I know the wedding will last 5 hours according to my venue and I think I would like some getting ready photos . So i'm just looking for some opinions and input lol

If your wedding is 5 hours, I would book a photographer for a full day especially if you want getting ready photographs. I personally would do 8hrs

It all depends on what moments you want captured.

I was originally going to have a big white wedding and we booked our photographer for 10 hours (12:30pm to 10:30pm) so that we could cover getting ready, first look, ceremony, post-ceremony photos, and the reception (first dance, cake cutting etc) but now that we have scaled down our wedding (due to COVID) and instead of a big reception will just be having a sit down dinner with family and some friends, we've instead booked our photographer for 6 hours (12:30pm to 6:30pm) so we cover everything from getting ready until when we arrive at dinner.

Hi ! What time do you think you will be preparing ? 2-3h before the wedding ? Just add it to the tame of the rest then. I think it'll be better to have him more at the beginning than at the end when people are eating and dancing...

Photographer here! It’s really dependent on which photos you want. I did a wedding recently and with the budget they had, didn’t do men’s getting ready photos and only wanted the bride getting ready, ceremony, and reception. You can usually make your contract based on your wants!

Our wedding is going to be 5 hours, initially, we went with the most affordable option for 5 hours. We get married in 24 days and had our final meeting with him the other night & decided to add on an extra hour because when he was reviewing the timeline & our wish list, we would have been rushed & super crunched for time. Luckily he gave us a reasonable price to add on one hour.

So yeah, I would go for 7 hours at the least if your wedding is going to be 5. Smiley smile

I agree with some of the other ladies on here. It depends on what you want captured. My getting ready photos I had a lot of those from my aunt and mom and even my hair dresser and makeup artist. My photographer did our first look photos, wedding ceremony, after ceremony photos with family and friends, bride and groom and then our “staged” cake cutting. All of the other photos we received were nice too from those who attended. Nowadays with these high tech phones out the pictures look just as good as a professional ones. Lol all in all I had my photographer for almost 2 hrs. But I got A LOT of photos from her.

I'm booking my photographer for the whole day. I just didn't think the other hours would of been enough.

The photographer can actually give you a great idea of how long they should be there, and what they can capture in that time. Ours is with us for a shorter amount of time because we are most likely skipping having a reception and just having a dinner after, and we don't have a ton of family photos to do, so they're not needed as long as they would be with a traditional wedding. When you email the photographers, tell them how long your ceremony and reception will be and what photos you ABSOLUTELY need, and they should be able to give you some options!
