How long does a civil ceremony take?

Claudia , on May 2, 2018 at 6:18 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
So we are getting married at a Farm and the ceremony will be a civil ceremony, maybe the officiant will read a religious citation but nothing more than that, how long does this type of ceremony take? I’m trying to set my ceremony time and I want us to take nice pictures while the sun is still out, I’m getting married in Septemberin Virginia. I’m scared that if I have my ceremony at 4:00 pm then my pictures will start at around 6:00 pm and it will be dark. Should I have my reception at 3:00 pm instead? Would it be too hot at that time? This is really important to me because I’ve heard a lot of people regretting they didn’t plan this beforehand and not having good pictures because of this. Any advice?

I have performed several weddings and my average is 15-20 minutes including the processional. You should be totally fine Smiley smile

The ceremony can take as little as 10 mins or up to an hour depending on your wants and your officiant. As for the pictures these are usually taken right after the ceremony while guests are at cocktail hour. If you are wanting sunset pictures then I would either arrange your ceremony to correlate to that time or have something happening at that time fornyourgueats sonyou coild sneak out and take he pics.

It's really fast. My husband and I did that first in March. We're having the church ceremony in October
