How long does it REALLY take to get your dress after you order?

I am about 9 months out and still have not gone dress shopping. I don't even plan to til october as I'm using it as inspiration to drop the weight I've gained this year. Has anyone waited or plan to wait 5 months before wedding to dress shop? Why or why not? I also dont plan on getting anything...

Has anyone waited or plan to wait 5 months before wedding to dress shop? Why or why not? I also dont plan on getting anything custom either. I'm going to keep it simple.

I went dress shopping 8 months before and the consultant was worried about that! My dress was ordered in late October and came in mid-March.

I was told 6 months for mine. That will be around August for me. I would get on this because you can order what size you are now and just get it altered if you lose weight..

Ordered mine at the end of August and it came in at the end of December. There could also be a delay due to the Chinese New Year in February.

It definitely depends on where you go and what dress. Mine took 8 weeks at davids bridal. I wouldn't wait much longer. If you lose more weight after you order it they can alter it. Davids bridal told me my dress could have been altered to be 2 sizes smaller if need be. I lost 20 pounds and went down one size. So don't wait too long.

If you're fine shopping off the rack, then cool. If you want a custom gown, you need to do it like, yesterday.

I think it all depends on the store you go to. I received my dress in 2 weeks BUT I think October is much busier because people are buying their dresses for summer weddings.

Dresses take an average of 6 months, and they want you to have your dress in 2 months before your wedding date so it's there for you to start alterations on time. If you go in at 5 months, most consultants won't let you look at dress designers that can't? promise their dresses will arrive in 3 months or less. Which will eliminate a lot of options.

It's better to shop now and alter your dress if you lose weight.

I ordered my dress in January and it won't be in until August. You could do this, but if it were me I wouldn't feel comfortable. That's just my personality however. I ordered my dress a size up, even though I planned on losing weight and have since lost weight. You could go shopping now, just order your right size, because it's easier to take a dress in then to let it out.

Mine took 6 months and then alterations will come later this summer. I would start looking asap. Sometimes dresses come later than expected as well

I ordered mine December 3rd. It came into the store this past Thursday. However it wasn't supposed to be here for another 3 weeks. If you wait until October you will be limited as you will only have 3 months for production to allow time for alterations. If you want a traditional wedding dress I wouldn't wait.

I bought off the rack. My BFF bought custom. Took from Feb to September, I think.
