How long does it take to decorate your venue? Should we sign for one day or a weekend for an extra$1,000?

My fiance and I are having a terrible time deciding if we want to rent our venue for one day ($2,400) or for the weekend (Fri @ 4 - Sun @ 12 for $3,400)? We want to hang paper lanterns, the cloth with the cool lights folded in it (what's that called? How do we find it?), and possibly a fake crystal chandelier. We also need to set out our table chart so people can find their seats and centerpieces. We also need to tell them where we want our tables and chairs, we were thinking a diagram, but we are perfectionists. They also have a cheaper indoor option, but it's three different wings in the building and we would need separate ones for dancing, food, caterer, etc. It's a June wedding so we were thinking outside, but we are having 50-70 guests only. What do you think?

Do you guys have to set out the tables and chairs yourselves? What about setting the place settings? Also what do you mean by "they have a cheaper indoor option"? Is your wedding outside or inside? Sorry, just having a hard time forming a picture in my head.

If all you have to do is set the lanterns, lights, centerpieces and put out a seating chart, then I think you only need it for a day as opposed to a weekend.

Definitely you only need one day (a few hours) to set everything up! I would suggest putting the money towards a day of coordinator instead, you really shouldn't be setting things up yourself, you should be relaxing the day of the wedding! (Plus professionals will be able to get things done very quickly and you won't have to worry about time) Smiley smile

When can you enter the space. How many people/hands do you have to set things up, if its just you two doing everything then get the whole weekend. If you have 10 people to help then the day of should be fine(starting early). But DO NOT go bridezilla the morning of your wedding yelling at people to set things up, have a planning party earlier to explain your vision?

The earliest we are allowed to set up is at 9AM on Saturday and we have to be cleaned up and out by 11PM. The Venue said they would set-up and remove tables, chairs, and linen. We don't have a caterer yet, but don't they put out the place settings? We are having a buffet. Our ceremony will be outside and the reception can be in the pavilion outside too, which seats 150 people (at max we will have 70). Its covered, has a 3 ft. wall around it, and has lots of fans to keep it cool. The indoor option is $2,700 for the weekend, no one-day option for inside. We are worried people won't mingle with the three separate wings. They said its been done several times, but flow is difficult and you will need to direct guests. My fiance and I were going to set things up ourselves so we don't bug our brothers and sisters. If even my sisters can help than that's an extra 3 people (might have a sister-in-law by then too!).

    Thanks for the info!

In that case, it sounds like outside would be best. You said its covered, so thats good in case of rain, but if they will set up the tables, chairs and linens for you, then I think you both should be fine with just renting it for a day. I agree that having three separate wings could be a little disjointed.

It never hurts to ask your siblings for help if you need it either!
