It's whatever is in your budget and what you enjoy. Personally I love longer trips. A week would just feel way too short to me. I don't start feeling homesick so to speak until about 4 weeks LOL and many non-American I know will travel for much longer.

However, someone like my dad doesn't like to be gone more than a week.

We're going for 7 days 6 nights b/c of my work schedule. This also why we are going to Jamaica instead of Eurpoe or Bora Bora or Hawaii....travel time alone would cut into a 7 day vacation....

One of my BM who was married last May is taking her HM in August of this year...just do what you want afford/want to do and tell everyone else to hush it...whatever works for you is what is best Smiley smile

Ideally the rest of your life but realisticlly itis tottally up to the couple I wish I could get away for 6 days but with kidlets that's a tall order we're probably going to do something small like a weekend up to Canada and do a aniversary second honeymoon at some point when the kids are old enough to spend a whole week with friends or family

Ours is only going to be 5 days and 4 nights, due to work and other arrangements. Whatever you can afford is whats best, IMO the honeymoon can last even after you get back from your trip. Smiley smile

It depends on how much can afford to spend and on how much time you can afford to take off of work, etc. FH and I are taking an 8 day/7 night honeymoon. We would have loved to had a longer one, but since FH is a project manager, it's not exactly acceptable for him to be away from work for that much time. Go figure, that stuff at my job would get really crazy before the wedding, too. Even though I have accumulated around 30 vacation days, there's no way that I ever would be able to take that much time off right now.

I'm not sure of any certain amount of time, I think it depends on how long you can be away and what's in the budget. We are taking ten days off of work and cruising for 6 days of those.

LOVE Mrs. D's comment! (Yet one more reason they should allow us to "like" comments)

Anyway...back to your question. As many have already mentioned, it is really up to your own personal preference and abilities with time and budget.

We chose to do a mini-moon int he same location as our semi-DW (2 hours from home). We stayed the night before the wedding, and the night after. We planned a really romantic train ride in first clas in a really beautiful area here in AZ (HIGHLY recommend the Verde Canyon Railroad to anyone who is interested).

Then we took a 6 day vacation to Orlando in October. We hit the beach and Universal Studios. We waited until October because DH is obsessed with Halloween and really wanted to go to halloween horror nights.

My FH and I are going to be gone for just under two weeks. But really, it's your honeymoon and if you ever talk to a happily married older couple, they will remind you that your "honeymoon" is forever Smiley winking If you can't afford it, so it be! Actually, we are going to be back a few days before we are telling everyone! In those few days we have time to unpack, grocery shop, and maybe fit in a date-night/stay in dinner. Just because you are going to be gone for 6 days (which I think is a perfect length!) doesn't mean you still can't have your alone fun for a few days after you get back! Smiley smile

My friend got married last year and took a 4 night honeymoon and my FSIL just had one night in a fancy hotel. I know others who have taken 2 weeks or more! How ever much you can afford in time and money I say go for it!

In all honesty, it can last as long as you want it to last! Of course, that is, if she is paying for it. We are taking a week, going to a spa boutique in the NC mountains.

Money is not an issue. We want a nice honeymoon but we do not want to feel that once we leave the honeymoon we have head back to work the the following day. So we have decide to take our honeymoon and then spend another week at home and getting settled in as Husband and Wife. This was we are able to enjoy some time at home before we return to work. THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOU IDEAS AND RESPONSE!!Smiley smile)))
