How long is it taking to change your name?

I mailed off my application to the social security administration today to change my last name after getting married. Since the offices are closed to the public, does anyone know how long it takes to get a new social mailed back? I’ve heard stories about it along 3-5 months!

    For me it took 4 weeks to get my new social security card. They did send my documents back sooner than that. Now I’m going on week 3 of waiting for my new license from the DMV. It’s a pain!

    It took 7 weeks to get my new SS card with my new last name

    I honestly haven’t tried to change my name because it sounds like a pain and I’m afraid of my stuff getting lost. I’m most likely going to wait for some type of normalcy to return lol

    I think it depends on where you live. I live in east TN and it took maybe a little over 2 weeks to get my new SS card in the mail after I sent everything in. Not near as long as I thought it would take. And they sent my stuff back sooner than that. It was honestly the easiest part of changing my name. Also didn't take very long to get my license changed. Again, I think some of it might depend on where you live.
