How long is your first dance?

I attended a wedding last year where the bride and groom danced to about 45sec to 1 min of their song. Is it normal to not play the full song? I thought it was very cute but a little too short for my taste. Do you plan on dancing to the whole song? What about for your father daughter dances?

Our song is only 1:30. Neither one of us like the spotlight on us, so we picked a song that was as short as possible, but definitely fits us as a couple. We are dancing to "Grow Old With You" by Adam Sandler. Cute song, look it up!

The song I want to dance to is only around 3 min long total. Is that too long? It's this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNnBcCk7eDA

Edited to add: It's "You plus Me" by You plus Me (a side project P!nk is in)

Just think of the weddings you've attended. How quickly did you get bored watching them sway back and forth? Did you wish it lasted longer? I'm guessing no.

I haven't finished the choreo for our first dance, a bachata, but I cut the song to 1:45 because I'm just used to having time restraints on our dance company's performances...I think if it isn't choreographed, more than 2 minutes tops can be boring.

FH isn't big on attention or dancing so I'll be nice and only do about 1 min.

We decided on a song that is only 1 minute and 26 seconds long. I know it's a bit shorter than normal but I'm ok with that because I think I'll be way to awkward if it was longer

Ours is 3 minutes but we're also a bit uncomfortable being the center of attention so I think we'll just have the DJ fade it out early. We're dancing to Queen "Best Friend" though... so, not super sappy and slow. I think it will be fun and unexpected to have something a bit more upbeat.

It's pretty standard to cut the song short. We danced to the entire song of Nat King Cole's "L-O-V-E", but it's a pretty short song and we had the whole thing choreographed over a year before the big day! Anything over 2 minutes, I'd recommend cutting down. Same applies to father/daughter and mother/son songs if you're doing that.
