How long to wait before having kids?

How long do you all plan to wait after getting married to have kids (if you plan on kids)? It seems 3 years is the most common, but I guess it depends on other factors too.

My H and I are thinking the same time frame too. So crazy to think a year ago we were planning a wedding, then got married, and are now planning for the next (most expensive!) phase.

We’re not waiting before trying. I’ll be 33; he’s 41. We really want kids.

I don’t think there is any straight answer to this. To me you shouldn’t ‘wait’ any period of time but rather start trying to conceive when the time is right.
I will be getting married at the end of this year, just after my 23rd birthday. We are financially in a position where we could have children straight away if we wanted (I’m very big on being financially ready) however neither my partner or I are ready to give up sleep ins or change our schedules for kids! We probably will not consider it for at least another 2-3 years just because we aren’t at a point in our lives yet where we are ready to commit to the lifestyle changes involved in raising children.
