How Long Was Your Processional?

ThePeoplesBride, on February 7, 2018 at 11:10 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
We have a bridal party of 14, not including myself and my FH. For anyone who had a relatively large bridal party, how long did your processional last? How many songs did you use?

Do you mean wedding party or do you have 14 bridesmaids?

My impression is that most people do 1 song for the wedding party, 1 song for the bride.

I had 7 bridesmaids on my side and it took less than half a song! We had the groom and groomsmen all enter single-file from the side and line up up-front, then the bridesmaids processed in one by one. To keep things moving we had the next bridesmaid start walking when the girl in front of her was about half-way down the aisle. For the sake of your guests and your wedding party you don't want to drag this out! Smiley laugh

We had 12 people walking in pairs, plus H and then my folks and me, and it took about 4 minutes--i know because my brothers were playing a song, and had planned a way to prolong it if needed, but didn't have to in the end. it was faster than i expected!

    Thank you!
I knew it wouldn't be super long but I was concerned the song I recently fell in love with wasn't going to be compatible time wise.

Do you think 1 song for the entire processional would be too uninteresting?

Nah, i think one song is fine! we only had one, and it was all good. i've seen both done-personally i prefer when it's just one song!

One song should be fine! We have 9 on each side of us and we will practice the day before so we can be sure they aren't dragging along.

Phew! I'm glad it's been done before!
I know a lot of users have at least three songs for their processional (one for the groom and groomsmen, another for the bridesmaids, and yet another for the bride) so I was beginning to feel like just one song was unusual.

30 minutes of music before the ceremony sounds good to me.

I think you'll be fine with a 5 minute processional for everyone to get to the altar unless the aisle at your venue is very long.

I would ask your DJ if it's possible to play music for both cocktail hour and before dinner. I think it would depend on the set up at your venue.
