How many bustles?

Caroline, on August 4, 2016 at 3:16 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

I am going back to my seamstress today and she is going to begin the bustle. Last time she said it might be 5-7 bustles..is that normal? How do they determine how many you need?

I wouldn't be surprised with 5 bustles, 7 may be excessive but it totally depends if the train drags. Your dress is gorgeous!!!

It depends on the type of bustle you want. Gorgeous dress, btw!

Beautiful dress! My first fitting was last night and I have 4 points on my bustle. Definitely depends on the type of bustle.

Caroline, there is a traditional bustle (which is probably what your seamstress is doing) or a French bustle. I actually think a French would look great with your dress. Have your seamstress show you each style so you can pick what you like!

It depends on the type/style of bustle...I told my seamstress I didn't want more than like 8 points if that and ended up with 14! But I had a train on my dress with lots of tulle and it was more intricate than your train. 5-7 seems normal for your type of dress.

Mine was a 12 point bustle with a slightly longer train than yours so I think 5-7 sounds normal

There are several diff bustle options! If you don't have enough points, the dress can tear from the weight of the train so your seamstress will usually recommend which type of bustle is best for your dress.

My bustle was done in 3 layers, one bustle for the bottom layer, 5 for the middle layer and 5 for the top layer. My dress was the Maggie Sottero Esme which is a tulle ballgown. The bustle laid super flat and I loved how it looked. I hate bustles that look like the dress is tucked in weird or super poofy.

Mine is a 9 point bustle. It just depends on how much dress there is to put up.
