How many candles per table?

Julia Beth, on March 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

I'm just looking for a little input here, hopefully you guys can help Smiley smile

We are using 8 ft rectangular tables for our reception (they seat 10, with one at each end). We have table runners and tablecloths, and one oblong floral arrangement in the center of the table. There will also be a pair tall candles (candlesticks, hurricane glasses etc) flanking the centerpiece on each table.

Then I would like there to be votive candles spanning the remaining length of the table on either side. We are not using uplighting (my fiance HATES it with a passion), so I want to use a lot of candles to give a romantic look. I'm thinking maybe somewhere around 14 votives on each table, so 7 on either side.

Does that sound like too much or too little?

I am doing something VERY similar and I think that number is perfect.. I am going to test it out however by measuring the same length and doing a makeshift table setting in my apartment....

It's hard to say how many will be able to fit without knowing the exact sizing of your centerpieces-- assuming its about a foot, then you'll need a foot at each end for the person sitting there, and maybe another foot total for the candle sticks-- that's 4 feet total already used up, which means two feet left on each side. Votives are usually two inches, but you won't put them all right in a row, so I'd say 7 should probably be on the higher end for each side.

Warning -- the people at the ends of the tables will be bumping their knees on the legs (if the tables are like most).

Nancy--I hope not!! Our tables are wider than the standard size, so hopefully those extra inches give them some more leg room.
