How many cans off soda to get?

sanders4ever, on April 5, 2017 at 3:12 PM Posted in Planning 9 17

The bar will be providing soda for the mixed drinks so this will be for people who are drinking soda only. We will have about 150 guests. I am going to assume most will be drinking either mixed drinks or beer. It will be 4 hour long reception. Was planning on getting Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Sprite. How many cans should we get? Also how much bottled bottled water?

Why would the sodas and water not also come from the bar? It sounds needlessly complicated to split it up like this.

Because the venue told me that the guests can either pay $1 for a small cup of soda at the bar or I can provide my own for them that's why I'm splitting it up

Wait...the guests shouldn't be paying for anything. And $1 isn't bad at all. Just have them add it to your consumption bar with the rest of the drinks. You don't need more things to worry about on your wedding day in order to save a few cents per serving.

...you are having a consumption bar, right? Right?

Just run a tab on the soda and pay it at the end of the night. Easy peasy.

What pps said. Running the sodas on your tab makes a lot more sense than bringing extra sodas in.

So are you having a cash bar? I don't understand how they can't just keep track of what they would normally charge other people and charge it to you.

If they're charging guests $1 per soda, they absolutely have to be able to take your card and run those sodas on it. Are you having open bar?

You have to have everything paid for 60 days before wedding. I already paid them for the alcohol. That's not even the question.

Did you pay them for an open bar or consumption bar OP? It may not be the question but it sure as hell would help us give an answer. If you paid for an open bar soda should be included. If you paid for consumption bar, you should be able to add those $1 drinks to your own tab.

Ok well that's fine. Usually it's a beer, wine and soda package. BUT technically they do consumption on soda. Any bar you go to will let you run a tab. Give the soda guy/bartender your debit/credit card. Pay for all the $1 sodas that are ordered.

So you didn't pay for the alcohol that would be mixed with the sodas? Your OP said that most people will drink mixed drinks.

If they provide soda for mixers, I don't understand why they can't provide it for regular non-alcoholic purposes. Since they are going to charge your guests, they should be able to charge you. Call and speak to the manager.

What did you end up doing? I’m in a similar situation, it’s weird that everyone doesn’t understand what you’re asking.
