How many centrepieces do I need?

FutureMrsB (Aussie Bride!), on March 11, 2013 at 9:00 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Hi ladies, I am having serious troubles with logistics of my centrepieces! We are doing long tables in a u-shape, with the bridal party sitting along the top and our guests down the sides (62 of us all up). We will use our bouquets along the bridal party table, but I need to figure out how many centrepieces I need for the other tables.

Now bear with me, I have tried to do my best with metric to imperial measurements.

Each "arm" of the U will be 27.56ft long (4 tables pushed together) with 14 people on each side. The centrepieces I am looking at getting are 11.8 inches long, so how many would I need? We were originally thinking 4 on each side but now I think that won't be enough at all! Another florist does centrepieces that are 18.9inches long but she charges more for other stuff.

ADD: I haven't ordered anything yet but we are at the very end of our budget. The tables will also have long aqua table runners and the centrepieces will have white & yellow flowers

If you don't think that 4-5 of the centerpieces you originally though of getting will be enough, can you space them out a little and add candles or pictures or something in that space?

That's not a half bad idea actually. The venue has candelabras we can use, so maybe that's an option if our budget can't stretch to using all flowers.

I say Keep with what you have and then as you get closer to the wedding if you have more $$ in your budget then fill in otherwise I'd do as KristnB says... space out and add little fillers like a few bud vases and some candles

Yeah I think that's probably what I will do, but I have no idea how many I would actually need to make it look full without the candles and other fillers. So that if I do have a bit of extra money closer to the wedding, I would actually know how many to order?

I've hit a wall with reception decor at the moment! I need a wedding stylist or something lol! Smiley smile

    I volunteer !!!

You would just need to pay for my plane ticket and give me a couch to sleep on..... oh, and let me hold a koala bear.

Haha done deal Hayley Smiley winking

One of my clients went to the zoo this week and got to hold a baby koala Smiley smile

Baby ones are much nicer than adults Smiley smile

I think I'm just worrying about it because it's 6 months to the wedding and the only thing I really need to do is the decor and some final accessories. We've still got about 300 cranes to fold to make the 1000. After that I am thinking of doing some DIY manzanita centerpieces for the cocktail tables or something.

FH is very practical, so when he gets home from work this afternoon we will sit down and do a plan of the reception to figure out what decor is required. We did it for the ceremony and it made it a lot more simple and straight forward!

14 people per side on 4 tables? that is 3.5 people per table... are people going to be on the seams between tables?

No we have two different sized tables - 2 will fit 4 each side (7.87ft) and 2 will fit 3 each side (5.91ft)

How many candelabras can you use?

    As many as needed?

Yep the venue owns a heap in various designs. Just at a rough guess they would have say 8-12 minimum of each design?

I think we're going to do something similar to the design on the second picture in my original post.

Out of the candelabras the venue owns, I thought maybe these would be the best, as it is one of the more modern designs. (Picture is small, but they are on the smaller side with 3 candles).

Table length and yellow centerpieces are to scale according to your measurements... black candelabras and plates are an estimate.....

so, try to get 4 more centerpieces in the budget.... have 2 on the big tables and 1 on the small.

Hayley - you are AMAZING!!!! Has anyone ever told you that!!!

I'm already a little over budget, so oh well Smiley smile Just need to work a little harder and earn a bit more money, but it won't be impossible to fit 4 more in the budget.
