How many cookies would you order?

Linds, on February 6, 2017 at 4:35 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

We're having cookies from insomnia cookies as our favor. They will come individually wrapped with stickers that say

"Thank you!

FH & Linds

March 18, 2017"

and be placed out on tables near the cake - so people can take it home or eat it there with or instead of cake.

We have approximately 140-150 people attending - how many cookies would you order? I'm always on team too many, and FH always wants to get the bare minimum.

Thanks!

    I would order 150.

ETA: I wrote 300 thinking you could put two cookies in every bag lol.

And probably put them at every place or else you might end up with 200 leftover lol. You need to have one per person though just in case. Plus, add a few extra for your officiant/photographer, etc.

Depending on how big they are, I would do 3 PP.

ETA: I say that assuming they're acting as your favors.

I'd order enough for all the guests- if you're doing 1/guest, 150, 2 per guest, 300, etc.

Some people still won't take them but putting them at seats is a great idea.

Also now I want insomnia cookies...

How big are the cookies? I would do at least 2 PP unless they are gigantic.

I'm thinking 300 myself, so I'm glad I'm not totally alone.

The cookies will be different flavors, so I won't be putting them at people's seat - so people can select what they want. And as for size, they're decent, but not giant at all. They're a little bigger than a chips ahoy or similar pre-packaged cookie size.

I think I'll stick with my 300 plan - thanks!

I really like the idea of putting then at each place setting, but if that won't work could you put the proper number (1 per person or 2 per person or whatever you decide) on each table at least? Otherwise I think there is a serious risk of people taking too many or too few. Or are you going to instruct people to take two each? That could work too.

@BMG & @Anne - I'm actually pretty glad we don't have insomnia near us in real life - we only get it when we go home to visit our family... I could completely go for a S'Mores cookie right now - so warm and gooey and delicious!! Yummm....

That's why I'm saying! My mom was just talking to me - and she's convinced 200 is "more than enough."

I may change things up, and put them at the table, but I need to be cautious about allergies as we have a few allergies of guests - cinnamon, nuts, etc - so I'm not sure if I need to make sure people have the right cookies at the right tables - and I have to see how that will go with our venue.

It's the trivial decisions like this that drive me up the wall!

As delicious as I hear insomnia is, (we're probably doing them as a late-night snack option) they are the least allergy-friendly bakery I've ever been to. They bake multiple kinds of cookies on the same sheet, and use the same spatulas for all different kinds. I have a peanut allergy and would never touch a cookie from there.

Obviously every bakery carries some risk of cross-contamination, but most places make a good effort to keep different flavors separate. Insomnia, at least the one in our college town, didn't even try. I'd have something else for guests with food allergies.

ETA: I would do 2 per guest. You get better prices when you order in bulk anyway.

I used to work for insomnia cookies! How many flavors are you doing? I would do 3 (chocolate chunk, snickerdoodle, and maybe a double chocolate chunk?) and do it so everyone can have 1 and a half cookies. Not everyone will take one and some people will want 2. And just remember, the quality is not going to be the same as when you go in store due to them not being warm.

Depends on the size. If it is a big cookie I would do one per person. I am assuming it is big because hey are individually wrapped.

I'm planning chocolate chunk, snickerdoodle (my grandmother always used to make these - and she's no longer with us - but I thought it was a nice nod to her memory without going overboard), and white chocolate macademia nut.

We actually bought them last time we were home, and waited until the next day to eat them to make sure we still liked them - and yes - they are AMAZING warm - but they're still good cold too. Good to point out they will be different though for sure!

As for allergies - we're doing tons of accommodations for everyone's dietary preferences, and allergies. And honestly, if people are very allergic - they often avoid things that may be contaminated. We have a nut allergy (only has reaction when she actually eats the nuts), and FH's cousins randomly replied with a cinnamon allergy - which no family member had any knowledge about until the response.

We are providing vegan, and gluten free cookies, on a tray - but not as favors. If you are more allergic or have bigger dietary restrictions than that - I'm not sure I can provide any more options.

    ETA: cookie pictures added

I agree with PP who said to plan for 1.5 cookies/guest. If you just get one per person, you run the risk of people taking more than one and then you run out.

I would order all of them haha. I would think at least 2 cookies per person in case people want more than one flavor. You can send all the extras my way if you have any!
