How Many cupcakes will I need?

Wanda, on May 11, 2017 at 5:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

We have decided we're going to do a cupcake tower with a small topper for cutting. How many cupcakes per person would you suggest? (regular size or minis?). I was thinking either 2 regular sized cupcakes/person OR 3 mini-cupcakes per person. Does this sound right?

Thanks!

If they are 3 inch cupcakes, go with 1.

@Svetlana - we don't know what the final number will be (we're still a LONG ways off) - we've reserved the venue and guaranteed 40, but we could have upwards of 70 at the most. Everyone will be from OOT, and all will be staying at the hotel/ceremony venue/reception venue.

We did one regular sized cupcake per guest. We also have a candy bar though.

We went with 1 cupcake per guest but we still had a cake and other desserts. I think what you're estimating sounds good; two for regular sized or three for mini. Are you having any other desserts?

I'm doing one regular cupcake per guest but I'm going to order some extra because we're having a little after party in our cabin with the really close family and friends who still want to party.

Do you have multiple flavors? Or bakery told us that the more flavors you have, the more you should expect guests to eat because they may want to sample multiple flavors. See what your baker says!

Usually cupcakes are sold by the dozen per the vendors I looked at. If you are looking at a standard cupcake, 1 per person should be fine. Mini cupcakes should be 2 per person.

I'd do one regular size cup cake per guest PLUS a dozen extra. Just in case someone has an accident and drops it or some come damaged

We ended up with two per. I think as long as you have at least one per guest, you're fine

It's usually best to do 1.5 per person

Thanks for all the answers! We are also having a "fruit fantasy" - chocolate fountain with stuff for dipping.

ETA: we don't know which baker to go with yet. while both have VERY good cakes, one has slightly better tasting, but less flavor choices. The other one has a multitude of flavors - all very good. In any case, it's going to be a difficult choice between the 2!

Our baker said about 2 pp! When there are cupcakes people pick multiple flavors. Which is a pain in the butt but a necessary evil.

    ETA I can't spell
