How many diy are you doing and how are you transporting it?

Kat, on May 6, 2018 at 9:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 37
Hi!

I am doing a lot of things for the wedding:
Centerpieces, flowers for bridesmaids, best man, the groom, my bouquet.. basically everything for the decor. Plus I wanted to do a glass stand which I saw a video on YouTube. People are saying it’s a lot for me. So I wanted to know what other brides are doing. I went to a florist and she was asking $350 for the bouquet and such ridiculous prices. And for renting the his and hers table, 450!! Like why?? A fabric arch without flowers $700!! She calculated everything without the arch, 3,000!

PS:, we our paying for our wedding, we just graduated so we don’t have a big budget..

I would love to know what you girls are doing Smiley smile

    I diyed everything.

Welcome sign, guestbook, card sign, signs with scriptural quotes.

    Made banner for wine bar

    My invitations

    My wedding favors

Making scented candles and garland for fireplace

Bouquet, bouts, corsages, centerpieces, toss bouquet, mirrored centerpiece stand

Made two 3-tier cracker and cheese stand for my wine bar

Making acrylic stand for wine glasses

    Made all my napkin rings

Making special gift boxes for my family members to thank them for coming

Adding more paper flowers to a hanging flower backdrop I bought for the selfie area.

Make 3 coffee filter flower wall canvas to cover-up signage I want to hide at the venue.

    what else......

Did I mentioned I did all of this myself with absolute no help Smiley sad

I'm transporting all this crap using my son's utility van and my fiance SUV.

Oh sorry, I know you said you’ll be using the van. But are you going the day before to drop it off? I am afraid about the timeline. Also, I have a year to go so I think I have time Smiley smile forgot to mention, I’ll also be doing the invitations, guest book and things like that! Smiley laugh

You should have enough time to get all this done. I have a year as well. I'm just pushing this stuff out and working on stuff just about every day. I go from one project to the next.

I'm diy-ing our sweetheart table decor, the timeline chalkboard, invitations, bouts, corsages and bouquets, seating chart, table numbers, signature drinks & favors sign & probably a photo collage. But, according to PP list mine seems like nothing at all! I'll supply flowers and candles for centerpieces too. I feel all of these items can be transported in our truck and dropped off the night of our rehearsal (2 days before the wedding)

Cool! Thanks, I will ask my venue if I can drop it off Teo days before as well so I can relax the day before. The venue would set it up? They don’t mind?

My DIY list is pretty lengthy (mostly decor and attire/accesories) but everything will be stored in totes/boxes and transported to the venue in our car and hopefully another car or two from our bridal party the day of the rehearsal.

Yes, I've spoken with the event coordinator there. She said if I entrusted it to them to set up (as long as it was simple and they had a picture of how we want it) they'll set it up. Fyi...our venue is "all-inclusive" if that makes a difference. Their people will be doing all of the other (table/linens/chair etc.) set up anyway.

If I wasn't doing a DW at a resort that if all inclusive with our wedding package I would DIY everything. I'm finishing grad school this August and my FH and I will be moving then so we have a long engagement to get everything done. But for the DIY that I do get to do is the stationary as well as the boutonnieres and BM bouquets. Mine is included in our package. We are having a celebration of marriage in a park aftrer we get back from the honeymoon that we are DIYing everything for but it is a very laid back thing with food we make ourselves and beachy center pieces for tables.
Definitely feels like I don't have much to do in comparison to others. But if you have the time you can do things little by little to make it seem less daunting.

    Arbor

    flowers for arbor

flowers, signs, and advice box on guest book table

all candles being used (about 80)

    decoration for aisle seats

    my hair piece

    Cake topper

bridesmaid/"You're helping me set everything up the day of and I love you" gifts (makeup bag, tumbler cups, and little tea kits)

We are going bowling for our reception so no centerpieces and I am thinking about DIYing our bouquets and bouts but I simply don't know where to start.

We are getting so much help from family the day of the wedding (friendors are a big no no but when people offer to help you and you have a total budget of $600 you take all the help you can get.) so we will be bringing everything over to the "venue" (my papa's lake house) in our cars. The arbor my FFIL is making at home, tearing apart, and rebuilding at the lake house.

I am DIY all ceremony and reception decor. Signs, centerpieces and sweetheart table, etc. I am going to attempt all bouquets and bouts but I have a florist on stand-by to arrange them with the flowers I buy just in case I screw it up.

We only have one diy project planned for our decorations. We intend to have the additions shipped to our venue and arranged by the coordinator.

We are making all the centerpieces, all the bouquets, boutonniers, the arbor/arch, any sign we need, card box, pretty much everything we can lol we'll pack it all in boxes and haul it in my mom's suv the day before. We didn't have a high budget. So most of our budget went to the venue, food and photographer. So anywhere we could cut cost we did.

Omg same here! Most of the budget is going towards the venue and food! We found a cheap photographer so that won’t be too much.
    Thanks for your answer!
