Hi!

I am doing a lot of things for the wedding:
Centerpieces, flowers for bridesmaids, best man, the groom, my bouquet.. basically everything for the decor. Plus I wanted to do a glass stand which I saw a video on YouTube. People are saying it’s a lot for me. So I wanted to know what other brides are doing. I went to a florist and she was asking $350 for the bouquet and such ridiculous prices. And for renting the his and hers table, 450!! Like why?? A fabric arch without flowers $700!! She calculated everything without the arch, 3,000!

PS:, we our paying for our wedding, we just graduated so we don’t have a big budget..

I would love to know what you girls are doing Smiley smile

@Kat - Girl, don't get me started on some of these florists. They just pulling prices out of the sky and looking at you like you're the crazy one. Some local florists are budget friendly, especially if they work out of their home, but the ones that not......they will try to bust your budget for real with exorbitant, unjustifiable pricing. Decor rental companies as well. It's almost as if they quote insane prices, not to be bothered with you because you don't have the budget they want to cater to.

I don't need them, they can't do anything I can't figure out and DIY for myself.

Make your own arch there are so many amazing diy projects on youtube. You can buy an backdrop arch from orientaltrading.com for $40 and secure it with sandbags. Get curtains from Ross for Less or Burlington Coat factory (they are usually $12-14 for two panels) 2-3 packs should do it and use that for draping and make sure the curtains are long enough to cover the sandbags. You can buy the center floral swag off Aliexpress for $20 and use 3 of them for the left, right and center.

    or

you make the side arches (shown below) using rediboard foam and greenery from the Dollar Tree or craft store. You can even find greenery at the thrift store for pennies, don't sleep on the thrift stores and use bulk flowers from the Dollar Tree you can order a case of flowers off their website. If you want to do it even cheaper. Dye coffee filters (tons of youtube tutorials out there) and use them as faux flowers to do your side arch.

All this can be done for less than $150-200.

Not flowers, but the rest of the decor we are doing ourselves. We hired a month of coordinator for $1,000 who will pick up all our decor, take it to the venue, and set it up. Then take it down, take it back to our hotel and put it in our car along with gifts and cards! She does other things too obviously, but this was the most appealing!

I love your attitude! Smiley heart
    I completely agree with you.

Honestly, I always thought of doing everything myself, I went because someone recomended me and I was thinking “if she doesn’t give me insame prices, sure I can probably use her services”. But ... wow. I still can’t get over the fact that she charged $350 for a bouquet!!!!

Yeah, I was looking into doing the arch myself, and then I found an arch that a couple used on their wedding for $65! They are even giving it already decorated with a bit of flowers and curtains. Really good option. I think the venue that I went to, they give the arch.. have to ask them. I also know a decorator, she works from home and she works a lot with balloons. So I will see how much she charge with this arch, never thought I would consider a balloon arch.

Originally, I wanted an arch that was all flowers. Someone told me 3,000 LOL. That was before I knew how they charge as if it is their last project.

Also, since the venue that I’ll be going, doesn’t give nice chairs for the sweetheart table. When the lady told me $450 for a bench or $250 for each chair (500 for 2), I said but I can almost buy a dining set with that! I saw this inspiration online, and I can use two chairs from our dining set when we buy it! Good idea right?

Most of our wedding is DIY (except flowers, cake, and catering). We are renting a truck to move all the decor, linens, and place settings.

    We have done our own:

arch, card box, card box sign, centrepieces, table numbers, invitation sets, thank you cards, ring box, favours, favour sign, seating chart, welcome sign, photo booth sign, menus.

We are also doing our own setup and had to order our own linens, runners, chair covers and sashes, and fabric swag with silk flowers for the head table.

So glad you found a wedding arch, you got a good deal. Problem solved. Oh the balloons on the arch sound amazing, especially if they wrap it in tulle with flowers and greenery around the tied ends, that would be lovely. I strongly suggest folks go on offerup.com, craigslist and ebay. Previous brides are always trying to get rid of their wedding decor.

Oh yeah! If I had two of the same upholstered chairs around my home, I would use them for my sweetheart table too, but I don't so..... I found these on ebay - $85 for two chairs with free shipping.

Now that you mention that, I will see what is in OfferUp! Smiley laugh

Wow! You and I had the same idea! Those look really nice!
Exactly what I thought, with all the money they charge for those chairs, one can actually invest in furniture for their house!

I've got a ton of stuff to transport. Getting it there is not an issue. I am a very concerned about getting it all back home.

Along with my DIY projects, I've got 15 tablecloths, 100 napkins, 40 table runners, 100 champagne glasses, coffee cups/saucers, assorted serving dishes, candles, cases of water, flowers, 3 large baskets...Plus large decor items like the card box, all the decor for the cigar bar. Along with my dress / shoes & a bridesmaids dress & shoes.

It doesn't sound like alot, but I have a 8 ft. table in my garage that is piled 3 ft. high with stuff for the wedding.

Wow! Try to get plastic containers so it’s easier to carry. Ask your bridesmaids to bring it back to your house or your parents.
