How many dress shops in one day?

HoundMama, on March 17, 2012 at 9:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

I am planning on going dress shopping for the first time with my mom in a few weeks. It will be while I am visiting her in my hometown. There are couple of places I would like to go, but I am wondering if it's wise to go to more than one place in one day? Do you think I might go into dress overload if I do that? If not - how far apart would you schedule appointments?

Thanks!

I would try to do two places and schedule them with enough time ahead that if you plan to have a sit down lunch between, then if you get caught up at the first place you can grab food on the run. I scheduled 3, but i'd shopped the first one in advance and just wanted to show mom 4 different styles, then headed to the second with ideas, and ended up running an hour late so I woudnt have made the third. I called and cancelled but found my dream dress at shop two so it was all good.

While I was looking I don't think I ever did more than 2 in a day. That was really all the dresses my mind could handle in one day, and I'm sure if I had tried to fit in more salons, I wouldn't have been able to tell one dress from the next at that point.

We did visit up to 4 dress shops one day when we were looking for BM dresses and MOB dresses, but those didn't need appointments, so we just kept going as long as we felt up to it.

I scheduled 3 in one day, one of which was David's Bridal though & we had already been there once before, but wanted a refresher from a dress I had liked from the previous trip & new one I saw. Ours were all within the same city, but we scheduled about 2-3 hours apart so we had some wiggle [& lunch haha] room.

Go to as many as you can mentally and physically handle! Its very overwhelming when you have too many choses because if your like me you tend to think almost every gown is beautiful!! However if you know what type of gown your looking for when you try them on you will just know when its your dress! The last place I looked, the first dress I put on was my dress. I started crying and the whole nine...did not do any of that with the other dresses i tried on..Smiley smile Good Luck!

I am going dress shopping for the first time on Wednesday. I've booked one at 10am and the second at 2pm and planning a sit down lunch in between. There is another salon in the same area and we may try to get that one in as a third if we aren't overly worn out.

I did two in one day and it was perfect. One morning appointment, lunch, and then the second appointment, and then margaritas to discuss the options Smiley smile

You can probably do two, but as the ladies said make sure you have time for lunch and brain recovery :-) I only went to one place, spent the total of about 2.5 hours there and found my dress. It was a sample significantly under my budget so there wasn't much to think about.

I have made appointments with 4 bridal shops. I am only doing 1 per day every 2 weeks starting next month.

I have helped several friends choose their dresses. When we walked in, seeing all the dresses is overwelming. Once they selected their dresses, it took about 10 - 15 minutes to get in 1 dress. Each time, we were there over an hour, and they only tried on 5 or 6 dresses and had to visit multiple shops.

If you do plan them in the same day, I would suggest your first appointment be as early in the morning as possible. The second should be mid - late afternoon.

I went to 2 shops on the first day. Trust me - that was PLENTY. I was emotional and exhausted.

Also - we did have time for lunch in between. And it was actually helpful for me b/c my dress was the second one I put on at the first store - so I had that feeling fresh in my head when I tried on some others.

So I think you can do two - just bring yourself some snacks, bottled water, and deodorant (I was soooo sweaty!) and ask if you can take photos of yourself in the dresses you like. That helps too.

Do yourself a favor and only do two a day. It gets exhausting.
