How many dresses did you try before you found THE ONE?

I went to one place to try on dresses . I tried about 7 on then found the one. All were mermaid and trumpet. I was completely against a ball gown, but once I tried one on, I fell in love. I originally wanted a lace mermaid, but I realized it just didn't look good on me.

Try styles you don't think you'd like; you'd be surprised. Also, maybe don't shop with as many people.

I've narrowed it down to two but tried on a total of probably 25-30 dresses. Keep in mind sometimes ONE THING can be altered/added/changed by a seamstress. Maybe try making a list of the things that are requirements that you want and doing a broad web search then finding someone that carries it. Your other option is to go on Etsy or to a local dress maker and have it made for you.

ETA: I agree with FireFighter Fiance. I was 100% against even trying on a strapless dress but I did and loved it.

I knew what kind of dress I liked but I told the consultant I wanted to try on all fits, styles and fabrics. I tried on maybe 10, and naturally did narrow it down to what I thought I would like. I'm glad I tried on the other types, otherwise I would have wondered... I love my dress and I have no regrets!

It was the first one I tried on. I searched online for months before I found this dress. I drove 5 hours to try it on. Other shops here could order it but no one had it to try on. I tried about 10 dresses on before deciding officially (I knew when I put it on that I loved it) that I was going to buy it. I came home and ordered it from the local shop.

I would say I tried on around 10-15. I didn't count. I'm 90% sure I found my dress... just need my parents to see me in it!

Not sure how many dresses I tried on, but I know I went to 6 different boutiques before I found both of my dresses.

@Firefighter the most I have gone shopping with is two people, so I think I'm okay.

I've tried on every style and have narrowed it down, thankfully. I'll give Etsy a try like @Katy suggested.

I think I tried on maybe 5. My dress was the 2nd dress. The 4th dress was very close runner up.

I'd say, maybe a dozen.

I can't say the dress I chose is a hundred percent what I wanted. I actually found "The One" earlier, but it was way beyond my budget, so I made a conscious decision to compromise.

Think about the dresses you have tried and see if you can identify what you liked about them and what you didn't. Make a list- silhouette, train, material, embellishment, sleeves, neckline. Then see if you can find something which comes close.

Since you have time, experiment a bit. Is there a kind of gown you haven't tried yet? Maybe you will like it once you try it on.

Don't give up, there's a dress for everyone of us out there and you will find yours :-)

I tried about 12 one. 10 at the first shop, and it was the second one I found at the second shop!

It took me a while to find my dress as well. I tried on at least 20! I love my dress but I didn't have a "this dress is perfect for me" experience.

Over twenty. It took me three different appointments/shops to find it. It ended up being one my stylist at DB suggested

Went to shop 1, tried 4, found the one. To be sure, made an appointment at another shop, tried 10 or so, hated everything. Went back to shop 1 to say yes to the dress

I tried on like 20-25. 4 diff shops until I found the one. It was actually the last one I tried on. I didnt even want to try it on since I thought I had one I loved already... i was sooo wrong! I love my dress.

I probably tried on a dozen dresses at each of three appointments, so somewhere between 30-40 dresses total?

There were a lot of things I liked, but nothing I loved immediately. I even initially put my dress in the 'no' pile, but then kept thinking about it over the next few days and went back to try it on again.

You might not have a big lightbulb moment, and that's okay.

It was the first one and only one I tried on, I found it when I wasn't even looking for it, that's why I'm sure it is the one.

I tried on 8... it was the 7th one that I fell in love with.
