How many dresses did you try on before saying "yes?"

I went dress shopping yesterday for the first time and found a dress I think may be "the one." My girls were there and we all loved it and thought it was glamorous and suited me... fairly simple lace sheath (not at all what I thought i was looking for!) - while plain it was classy, flattering, and had the chic sophisticated look I want. But we all agreed I should not order a dress on "day one." BM 1 was not satisfied with the service we got and felt like I didn't try on enough... and while I don't know if I agree with her, I do understand not jumping in too quick... a dress is a commitment...

so my question is how many dresses did you try on before saying yes? And did you "sleep on it" before taking the plunge? How did you know you found "the one?"

Thanks!!!

I only tried on one. I found it online and knew it was exactly what I wanted. That was in May and I haven't had any second thoughts about it.

I feel in love with the very first dress I tried on! 😂 I kept thinking there is no way the very first dress is “the one”, so I ended up leaving without buying that dress and went on to try probably 20+ dresses at different stores, but always compared it to the first one. I finally went back and bought it, so happy I did! 😍

When I decided to "wait a few days" I also realized I was leaving in a few days for a trip and that the soonest I would be able to get back is probably the 20th! It's going to be torture! lol

    Thank you, I love It!
I hope you find yours and love it, too. Just once you find it, don't look at other dresses because it can make you doubt your choices.

In the first store I went to I tried on probably 10-15 dresses and hated every single one. I also had just awful service. The second store I went to I tried on probably 10 dresses and my dress was the third. It was very different than I ever imagined and I’m still so in love with it! Just went to try it on again a couple weeks ago since it came in.

I went to my first bridal appointment roughly one month after getting engaged, and went in telling myself it was just for fun so i could get an idea of what i like and don’t like. It ended up being my last since i found the dress! Tried on about 6-8, tried the 2nd and 4th one on twice and got the 4th. I didn’t want to take it off!

I didn't try on any! I found my dress online 2 years earlier before I got engaged (I got engaged this past August) and I knew that was going to be my wedding dress. I absolutely love my dress and wouldn't trade it for the world! I have already ordered and tried it on minus a few alterations that are needed I love it!

I think I tried on about 16 dresses at 2 stores. I tried all the silhouettes on at both stores. Mostly to make the consultant happy because I already knew the type of dress I wanted and ended up getting it. At the first store I thought I had found the dress but I left because it’s a big decision and I don’t make big decisions like that without thinking it over thoroughly. I went to the other shop and I found my dress and came back a week later and bought it.

I found my dress at the first salon I went to. I wasn’t expecting to find “the dress” that day. After talking to the consulting we picked out 8 dresses to try on. I kind of liked one but hated the others. We were about to leave and go to another salon when my sister suggested a dress she had seen on the clearance rack. I tried it on and instantly fell in love. I couldn’t stop looking at myself in the mirror. I felt so beautiful and I knew that was the dress for me. Since it was on clearance, I purchased it that day because I didn’t want to take the chance that I’d come back later and it would be gone. The best part is that it only cost 1/2 my dress budget.

I bought a dress on my first shopping trip, then went shopping somewhere else, but I stuck to my dress because I knew it was mine. I tried on maybe 5-10? but when you know I think you just know.

I tried on about 15 at three different places before I found the one! There were about 4 that i would have been plenty happy with though!

    TOO MANY! LOL

To be fair, I wasn't into trying on dresses so 1 was too many for me. I knew that I was not going to make a decision while in a shop. I didn't want to decide there because I wouldn't want it to be based on any pressures I was feeling. Whether it be from the consultant, my Mother, or my own nerves of wanting it to be over.

I scheduled 4 visits, made sure that I went to all of them no matter how I felt about any dresses I tried on. After the 4 visits I had 2 dresses that I felt I could see myself in. This was after trying on about 20 dresses in total. Everyone had such mixed emotions about them and it was really throwing me off my game. I scheduled follow ups to 2 places. I canceled the second appt because when I went to the first I knew the dress I tried on was my dress. I did not have anyone with me. I went by myself so that I could really feel my feelings and not anyone else. I am so thankful I did this. It was truly the best decision. While I felt like the dress was my dress, I even told the consultant this but also that I could not make the final decision without walking away from it, thinking on it, and being certain. I was going to ask my Mom, Sister and BM's but when my Fiance saw how happy I was after my appt, he told me to just decide and not ask anyone. He was right, I took his advise and I have zero regrets.

Also must note that I tried to be really open to all dresses. I had an idea of what I wanted but my dress is exactly what I said I didn't want. And again, I have zero regrets.

Tried on 8, picked dress #5, first day, first salon. Bought it that day. No sleeping on it, and no regrets. I still love it!

One day, two shops, 3 dresses. I had a pretty set ideal in mind though.

I am afraid I too will spend way more than I am planning... I had set a pretty conservative budget, and while the dress that's "On Hold" in my mind right now is well within the budget, my hesitation to pull the trigger has caused me too look at far more dresses, many more costly... I was ruling them out immediately based on cost, then dear FH told me to get what ever I wanted and that he would work extra to pay for it if it was out of budget - he just wanted me to have the perfect dress. Smiley heart I am so lucky.

I am going to still try and stay in my original budget, but knowing if I splurge it won't cause a meltdown had definitely expanded my horizons...
