How many dresses did you try on before saying "yes?"

I went dress shopping yesterday for the first time and found a dress I think may be "the one." My girls were there and we all loved it and thought it was glamorous and suited me... fairly simple lace sheath (not at all what I thought i was looking for!) - while plain it was classy, flattering, and had the chic sophisticated look I want. But we all agreed I should not order a dress on "day one." BM 1 was not satisfied with the service we got and felt like I didn't try on enough... and while I don't know if I agree with her, I do understand not jumping in too quick... a dress is a commitment...

so my question is how many dresses did you try on before saying yes? And did you "sleep on it" before taking the plunge? How did you know you found "the one?"

Thanks!!!

I thought I wanted the first dress I tried on, but then went through quite a few. I changed my mind about 3 times. I think I honestly could have worn any dress (they were all so much fun to wear, and beautiful!)

I went dressing shopping in June 2017... wanted to go out to see styles and what I may like. I didn't expect to find the dress of my dreams - and like you - everything I didn't want... But NOTHING compared to the dress... and when I say everyone cried - EVERYone cried... even other customers in the salon. That's when I knew it was it and there was no more reason for me to search. :-) If your heart and your vision is with you in that dress - go for it.

You should start because I waited a long time before ordering my dress and there were already a few dresses that I wanted to see and they told me that those take 6 months to come in and I did not even try them on. My wedding is May 4, 2018 and I just ordered my dress 3 weeks ago. I would highly suggest you start looking.

If you love it, then you love it! I went dress shopping with my mom and MOH and when this was the first dress I tried on... I thought to myself that there was no way the FIRST dress I put on could be the one. I was in love and so were my mom and MOH. I tried on the other 5 dresses and even the one I thought I was going to LOVE, didn't come close to how I felt about this dress. I tried on the first dress again at the end JUST to be sure, and I was! It's kind of like with dating... when you know, you know...

I went to 6 places, tried about 25-30. Found one I loved but waited 3 days before committing.

I went to bridals by lori and didn't find one there. The same day, I went to Bravura and my mother picked one out. When I tried it on, I wasn't sure if it was THE one. Put on a veil and everything. So I went to the runway in the front of their store with it. Still didn't really feel it. So then she found a yellow bouquet and let me hold it and walk towards myself in the mirror and I immediately started crying. I had my moment. Went home with it that night.

I tried on 7 or 8 total, all at the same store. My dress was number 4, I kept trying on more after it but then put mine back on and knew for sure that it was mine!

I went to 4 boutiques and probably tried on 25-30. I had somewhat of a higher budget for my area ($2500) and was not impressed by any of them. They all made me feel matronly and dumb. The last one I tried on was $500 (couldn't believe the store I was at even carried one for such a low price) and it was perfect!

I lost count! I think it was somewhere between 30-40 dresses between 7 shops. Yesterday I finally picked my dress! My FSIL suggested I try it on and I didn't have the highest hopes because it was totally NOT what I thought I wanted. And then POW! I knew it was the one. For me it was about the journey that lead me to the dress and since I tried on so many I don't think I'll have dress regret later on.

My dress that I chose was my 6th dress that I tried on, but I had another appointment afterwards that i went to and tried on many many more! But I couldn't stop thinking about that one dress, so I went back and bought it after that appointment was over!

I thought I had found the one on day one. So glad I decided to keep looking! Never wanted a train until day three when I tried on this one!

I went to one salon, tried on 5 dresses and I chose the 3rd one I tried on. It's crazy when people say "you will know when you put it on", and that is the case. Nothing compared to that dress I fell in love.

    20. It was the 17th dress I tried on. Tried on 3 after that and went back to it.

    I agree.

I went to one place and it was an off the rack bridal shop (wonderful place, wonderful experience, amazing prices). I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for, so when I went to the rack, I picked two out instantly that I knew I liked without a second thought. The first dress I pulled off the rack was the first one I tried on and the one I bought. I fell in love with it the moment I put it on. However, I still tried on around 16 more dresses after that one. I also tried a ball gown for fun, which I knew I definitely didn't want. I kept going back to that very first one I picked out and tried on.

I didn't find it necessary to 'sit on it' after trying on so many dresses. To me, 17 is a lot and each one still wasn't comparing to the first one. I knew right away and I am very happy with my decision.

1 store, 5 dresses. Left after feeling overwhelmed and hungry lol Couldn't stop thinking about the very 1st dress I tried on. Went back that evening and bought it!
