How many dresses did you try on before you found the one?

I've always had to go to multiple stores and try on a bunch of dresses for prom, homecomings, etc., so I figured wedding dress shopping would be a nightmare. Pretty early after we got engaged I found out this little boutique in my hometown carried a few designers I liked, so I scheduled an appointment for just my mom and I, thinking we'd just go to browse and get an idea of what I liked and what looked good. I was planning to invite my grandma, FMIL, and bridesmaids for when I was more serious. I ended up finding The One after trying on maybe 4-5 dresses. It felt super bizarre, but I guess when you know, you know lol.

Congratulations! I’m horrible with decision making and always have to Think about something before I buy it in depth but I went to my first appointment and only tried on like 10 dresses and I found my dress. It was one of the first I tried on and I ordered it that day. I even had a bridal appointment set up at a different boutique the following week because it is extremely unlikely for me to pick something that fast

I went to one store and bought my 3rd dress (I tried on 5), but I 100% put the credit with my consultant and my initial salon choice!

I went to one store with the goal of finding a dress that day. I knew roughly what I wanted so didn't want to waste time. I tried on maybe 7 dresses, and ended up buying the first I tried on 🙂 I just kept coming back to it and eventually knew I had to have it.

For me it was actually zero! I was on Pinterest pinning dresses that I liked and realized they were all by the same designer. I knew that I couldn't try anything else on until I tried those. The designer isn't carried anywhere near me. After months of all their NYC trunk shows getting cancelled, I took a leap and met with the designer on Zoom. I ended up buying my dress without ever having tried a wedding dress on. I am so in love with how the dress looks once it finally arrived.

I tried on about 7 dresses until I found this one… The minute I put it on I knew it was the one! This was the first place I went to also! Excuse how chunky I look lol.. still trying to loose some weight. I am down almost 10 pounds from this picture though !

I also had a bad experience with David’s Bridal! I am mid size ( 5’3” and 175 lbs) and they had NOTHING in stock that was remotely my size. Also, before going I looked online at their catalog & picked out about 8 dresses and they had 3 out of 8 of them in the store. I’m a size 14, and literally the closest thing they had to my size was a 18 or 20 & even with clipping it in the back none of them looked right on me. The consultant helping us also was helping 5 other brides at the same time. Just not the feeling or experience I wanted for the first time trying on dresses. I went to a smaller boutique in my area & found my dress within 2 appointments! Probably 25 total dresses before I found the one!

My step mom is making my dress however, I did go to DB and I tried on 6 different dresses and surprisingly found ‘the one’. Although, I wasn’t buying a dress I wanted to get the experience and it was nothing short of amazing. The lady who helped me was super nice and really helpful when finding the dresses I was interested in. I only spent an hour there but it wasn’t terrible.

I went to two stores and tried on about 11-15 dresses. The dress I chose was the first one I put on, but I wanted to try a bunch of different silhouettes and styles so I could be positive I'd chosen the right thing. It was a lovely way of doing it - after the second store we went and had lunch and looked at photos and videos of the dresses my sister had taken so we could properly discuss things we liked and didn't like that we might have felt uncomfortable discussing in front of the consultants, and we were all in agreement that dress one was the perfect one. So, we went back and bought the first dress that afternoon!

I tried on 3 the 4th one was the winner. Got it off of Amazon! The seamstress took my measurements and made the dress

I tried on a total of two dresses and fell in love with the second one i tried on and got it lol. I guess im just very decisive and i did alot of research and knew exactly what i wanted. 🙂

I tried on 9/10 but I probably looked at about 100 before I decided. I actually wound up getting my dress from David's Bridal.

No joke the first one at the first store I went into. I had a vision in mind and the girl helping me asked which one I wanted to try on first. I told her to pick because I didn’t want to pick the one I thought I would love then not want to try on anymore. She ended up picking my favorite and that’s exactly what happened. The sample dress fit like a glove and even she was like “I don’t think we even need to try on anymore that’s perfect on you.” I tried on like 5-6 more after that just to be sure but I ultimately couldn’t even fathom getting another dress besides the one I found that day.

My 17th one was the winner. The belt is separate from the dress so it will be sewn on

I didn’t want be under pressure to find my type of style or the dress for me so I went to a designer to get my dress made. I took the easy way out and now I’m comfortable because my thoughts and ideas are going to come to life so I’m super excited can’t wait to see the finish product. One less thing to worry about!

Oh dear God I just to try to in about 12 Dresses bought four and ended up with two one for the ceremony and one for the reception. I am the most indecisive person ever but finally I’m happy with my choices
