How many expensive gifts did you put on your registries?

Evelyn, on June 28, 2019 at 9:53 PM Posted in Registry 0 8
I have a lot of less expensive gifts (under $30) on my list, but I also have a handful of expensive ones ($150+) on my registry, and a good amount of in-between ones as well. How did you guys divide up the price points? How many of each price did you put on your registries?

If you use bed bath and beyond it gives you a recommended amount for each price point based on the number of guests.

I myself have only a handful of gifts that are what I would call pricey. Most of my asks are in the $15-30 range. I have a paper I printed from crate & Barrel

Are you having an engagement Shower? (Y/N) _____

    How many showers? ____

How many guests at each? Shower 1 _____

    Shower 2 _____

How many guests are invited to the wedding? _____

    Total # of Guests _____

    2 gifts x ____ guests = Total # of gifts _____

Then I used Zola & Amazon to determine price points. Zola is really good if you plan to add cash funds.

We used Target for our smaller everyday gifts and Crate and Barrel for the higher end ones. On our Target registry we have about 50 while C&B has about 8 on that one.

Most of out items are under $50. We have one in each of $50-100, $100-200. We just didn’t need much higher priced stuff.

We made sure to have options at each price point, but we didn't stick to any "recommended" lists on the internet. We only asked for things we wanted/needed and didn't want to ask for things just to fluff the registry. We had a set of pots and pans ($320), a nice knife block set ($350), flatware set ($90) a nest thermostat ($250), dehumidifier ($200), small suitcase ($100), two large suitcases ($150 each), countertop ice maker ($100), bedding set ($100), slatwall ($250), printer ($80).

All of our pricey gifts were purchased for us, except the ones in bold. We bought those after the wedding with the completion discount. We also had a set of dishes that would have topped $100 if the same person purchased all of them, but it was able to be purchased separately. Same with our towels. If the same person bought all of our towels (and this did happen, much to our surprise), it would have been $400, but there was the option to buy individual pieces.

Every crowd is super different! I'd have an even amount of gifts under $50, gifts between $50-100, and gifts over $100. If you are having a shower, add more under $50.

Thanks everyone! Smiley smile and @Nemo i was so glad to read your comment because I was feeling like I put way too many expensive things on my registry, but it sounds like we have similar amounts of things in the higher price range. (Phew!)

We have a decent amount of items at or under $50 (helped by our dishes which are sold by place setting), but also have a good number of expensive items as well. We've been living together for several years, bought a house a year and half ago, and really want more upgrades instead of just new things. We made an effort to put any expensive items on our Amazon registry because it allows you to let people contribute to a gift instead of purchasing it outright, so right now we have $100 contributed toward a $400 pots and pans set.
