How many extras seats did you leave at your reception?

Jillian, on March 13, 2015 at 8:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I was wondering how many extra seats you allowed/allowing at your wedding, if any? I've been thinking about our seating plan and wasn't sure if it's appropriate to have an extra table open for people that might just show up that said no or you didn't get an answer from? I doubt a whole extra table is needed, but I rather have an extra table than need 3 seats and not have a table set up?

Also did you have seats for your vendors (I'll have dj/photo booth attendant/2 videographers, our photographers are a family friend, so I will sit him with friends) at a table of their own/sit them at the overflow table incase extra people show up/or did they eat some place completely different?

Thanks!

I didn't as I would have had to pay for them in advance and no refund if they weren't used. A good venue will have a plan in place to accommodate this situation.

We mixed our vendors in with our guests.

We had two no shows and two crashers so it all worked out Smiley smile

I had one extra table set up and decorated. My venue suggested it and it wasn't any additional cost for me.

Thanks Tina! I was wondering if others has mixed their vendors in to fill space where only a seat was left.

@ Mrs. Valentine - I don't think it will be additional for me to set up a table either (other than the cost of the stuff on it, chair covers etc.) If something did come up and I needed extra room the table would not match if the venue set one up because my centerpieces/runners/chair covers, etc are from a different decor company, not my venue.

Zero to my knowledge. My venue set up something for the vendors but I don't know where it was - it may have been in the same room but I didn't see it. We followed up with anyone we didn't get an RSVP from for a response and our only "crashers" showed up after dinner (and we had 2 no shows so it didn't matter).

I didn't. But I did call everyone after the RSVP deadline to ensure people would give a reply. We ended up with more no-shows than uninvited guests (1) so we ended up having place for the extra person. If there would have been no seats, I would have said, "sorry, too bad, so sad".

We have 169, some of which are my family from out of state who we know will not be coming. (Those were more of announcements) We'll have seating for 170. There should be plenty of room with the no rsvps. If we have a low decline rate, I may add another table.

I'll likely have a table for vendors as well.

I had a "wedding crashers" table. It was on my seating chart and everything Smiley smile I did not pay for anything per table, though.

We plan on following up with those that don't RSVP after the deadline. Likely the same plan as LadyMonk. We're not adding extra seats for unexpected guests. If there's not room then there isn't room for them. Our photographer required a seat in her contract so we are providing her one. We've included our bartender in the headcount for food but no seat for her (she said it would be nice to include her in dinner but not required). We haven't spoken with our officant yet but he mentioned having another wedding at 4. Our "dinner" is at 4:30 so I assume we can count him out. I would check with your vendors what their expectations are.

All my vendors will be randomly scattered in amongst my guest.

As far as extra seats we are planning for 150 and inviting 150 so if only 120 RSVP I will probably do an extra table or two just in case to be safe. If all 150 RSVP and someone shows up with an extra person. So sorry so sad not happening.

I will have extra seats in my venue because it's a community center and they're not going to move them but in no way is it set up for wedding crashers. Even if there're seats available it won't be any food for them. If they can't be respectful enough to RSVP then they won't eat or drink and they can turn they ass around and go home. I'm paying per person for the food and I'm not paying extra just in case rude ass people decide to show up at the last minute.

We'll be having enough seats for RSVP'd butts (with table plan). The room is too small to be providing extra spaces.

We're also not having any vendors that are normally fed (the registrar doesn't stay past their appointment to do the ceremony. Just the way the registry office works. Same with the piper, he'll be off to another booking.) since the DJ doesn't arrive till after the meal and we're probably skipping a photographer.

Mine will be in a community center. I am not doing assigned tables, what I have planned for is 100% acceptance with a few extra tables set up. If need be I can set up more but they don't get centerpieces lol. For the food we are getting the food ourselves so we don't have to worry about the costs of those extra plates since we are making sure we have enough for leftovers.

I will not have any extra seats. I don't plan to have a table for vendors, I expect they will eat in the back since an extra table would mean an extra centerpiece, etc. which costs a good chunk of money. I doubt any of our guests would be rude enough to just show up, but if anyone has the audacity to do that, they're not getting dinner or a seat!
