How many flip flops for guests? Also PSA: Old Navy

Happy In Hawaii, on June 21, 2014 at 10:27 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

So I just clicked my Old Navy email and found out that next Saturday Old Navy is having their $1 for a pair of flip flops sale!

I'm sooo tempted to get some flip flops since we're doing a tropical wedding and I absolutely love flip flops. We're NOT doing a beach wedding though, and this would just be for the girls to take off their heels and have fun dancing. At that price it would be awesome.

So now I want to know how many you think I should get. We are expecting about 80 guests, most of them are couples so probably about half of those would be women (I'm guessing the men wouldn't need flip flops...just the girls). But then maybe some of the older people won't want to bother taking their shoes off and maybe not even dance. So...30 pairs?? Would that be enough? Also what sizes would be good? Do you think I need to include some for the men? Would some people take the free pair even if they're not going to wear them that night? Thanks!

My friend did a flip flop basket at her wedding and only the bridal party used them so I'm just buying my girls these as part of the bridesmaid gift on the up side if you have extras you will be set for flip flops for a whileSmiley smile. Thank you for the heads up I thought I missed the sale.

Go for it! We and several members of our bridal party are going to hit the stores in Pasadena, Burbank, City of Industry and Los Angeles when they open. We are not having a beach wedding or theme, but we want to offer them to our female guests during the celebration portion of our reception.

Just found these on Party City website ($15.99/dozen)

I think 30 is good. Sizes 6-8 are most common I think.

And thanks for the heads up, I need some new ones for kayaking and such!!

I'm thinking about getting some, my coworker did this at her wedding last month and had a lot left over. Make sure you put them in an area where people can see them. I might get 30 pairs or so. I'd go with women only.

I bought mine last year when they did this. Between all of my family and me, and me going to two different stores a total of three times, I bought 35. Sizes ranging from 6-10. I have big feet so I hate when people forget that others do too. The vast majority I bought were sizes 7-8 though. I bought neutral colors. I did not buy any men's.

I just checked and they are 2.50. Is this price only for in-store?

@Niecy, the sale isn't until next Saturday 6/28. But yes, it is normally in-store only.

ETA - I think we commented at the same time Smiley smile

OH and just an FYI - if you're an Old Navy card holder you get early access, but they haven't told me what the early access entails yet.

ETA - Just double checked, card holders can get them for a $1 on 6/27, so a day early.

Thanks so much for all your help!

@GameCox, I also have big feet so I was definitely planning to have some size 10s!

@Jules, thanks for letting me know about the card holder access, I wonder if I sign up for a card like tomorrow if I could still get the early access. In Hawaii there are very few Old Navy stores and people like their slippers here (that's what the locals call them) so I'm worried I might not be able to find enough, so if I get to go a day early that would be great. Is it a credit card or just like a rewards card?

If I can't get enough pairs maybe I'll just buy half this year and half next year! Or I'll just take everyone's leftovers!

Last time I did this I think there was a lot. 5 or 6 pairs maybe? So take some back up!

It's a credit card, but it comes with rewards - and from their FB page it looks like as long as you sign up for a card (even the same day) you can get them early.

Also, Gap and Banana Republic are the same company as Old Navy, so a card from any of those stores works at the other two.

Ahh thanks for the clarification Jules...last thing I need now though is another credit card!

@ChampagneDream, what do you mean, the last time there were only like 5 or 6 pairs left in the store to buy? I guess if there aren't enough I will just scratch the idea!

Oops!! Typo... I meant to write limit. Darn autocorrect. I think they only let each person get 5 or 6 pairs.

Not old navy, but I happened to go through the ads today and found K-mart selling them for 2/$1 this week! Smiley smile

We went last year and you can only get 5 pairs per person. So unless you would like to go back in line a bunch of times it may not be worth your time

@Champagne and Stephanie, that's good to know. I have nothing better to do on a Saturday, between me and my FH we could maybe do it...but it's definitely good to know they have a limit!

@Jennifer, that's really interesting, I'll look into that right away! Now to see if there is a K-mart in Hawaii...I think I've seen one!

I know there's a KMart in Kapolei or around there. Not sure what part of the island you're on. That's where FH's family lives so I know that side well. Smiley smile
