How many hours did you book photographer & videographer

My budget is $1000 for each. Ive been quoted all kinds of $$ from 3,000 for 4 hours to $800. Im leaning towards this photographer who quoted $1000. We get 2 photographers for 4 hours and they include an extra 2 hours in the package for candid shots & whatever other poses we want. So we actually...

Im leaning towards this photographer who quoted $1000. We get 2 photographers for 4 hours and they include an extra 2 hours in the package for candid shots & whatever other poses we want. So we actually get 6hours.
My 4 hours does not cover the whole wedding. It only gets us 1hour before the ceremony, ceremony, family pics immediately after, grand entrance, first dance, speeches, toast, dinner & ends at cake cutting. I tried to plan out the reception to fit almost everything at the beginning of the reception because I cant afford anyone to stay all day.
So 6 hours would be great. Im not fully set on the photographer I mentioned above because Im still waiting for a few other responses. I have seen some top of the line samples, his samples arent as top of the line but I have to be reasonable with the quality I get for the price. His work is still good and I think I would be happy with it. What has me most sold is his work is good, and 2photographers and the 6 hours.
So how long should I book a videographer for?

We booked our photographer for 6 hours. Our package was originally $2,000, but she was running a promotion when we booked. For me, 6 hours is plenty of time to capture the memories I want documented- first look, cake cutting, ceremony, etc...

Thanks! I said the same thing about my original 4 hour timeline. I opted out for getting ready pics to try to fit ceremony + reception events all in that time frame.

That's a really great quote honestly!! Especially since you'd be getting things filmed that you won't be able to get photographed! It's a little over your budget, but if your other responses are more expensive with less included, I'd def. book them.

I booked a photographer for four hours for $750. We're having a Sunday wedding, so we won't have a late night. My other choice was $1200 for six hours. Our friend from college is a videographer, so that's his wedding gift to us.

I feel like I just want pictures of the big moments. The video will give me everything else I need!

Hi! I just booked George Street photography for my wedding. They have photographers and videographers scattered around the country. Check their website to see if they are available in your area! They have multiple packages and will try to work with you on your budget. My package includes 8 hour coverage, 2 photographers and a videographer and I was able to get my engagement shoot added in for less than 3k!

We had one photographer we had her for a total of 8hrs for $1000. I was able to use her for my covid wedding last year for 2 hrs and then had for 6hrs day of which was perfect. She came at the tail end of us getting ready and left after cake.

I booked the photographer 1000$ for 6 hours and sounds about the same timeline except our cake cutting is a little early so we will get a little extra time after cake cutting

I agree with the family photos comment! I've seen people do every possible configuration of family members (cousins photo, uncles photo, aunties photo, all aunties on mother's side, all aunties on father's side, siblings only, sister with all her kids, brother with all his kids, etc) and friends all standing there for a family photo and the whole thing taking more than half an hour (or even longer if it takes a while to find some people. Very few people would actually print and frame those photos, and definitely won't frame more than one if they are in more than one! Plus, you don't necessarily need a pro photographer for that. You can easily do those during the reception by setting up a camera on a tripod and getting someone to press the shutter button after arranging everyone. Just make sure you get someone who knows the settings to set it up, especially if the room is a bit dim. So yeah, I recon you can save some time by pushing that back to the reception.

Oh no thats tooo big of a family! Lol our family is big on family photos. And we have parents in their 70s so its a must to do group photos. But our group is much much smaller. We have both sets of parents + my step mom. My sister + husband and FH has 2 siblings. Thats our whole group. No aunties and uncles and cousins allowed lol.

Sounds like your family photos won't take too long then! Which is great because you really need all the time you can get on your wedding day!

Yes. Also! Im scheduling pics w my bridesmaids only and pics with my mom, sister and stepmom, and FHs mom before the ceremony. Same with FH and his groomsmen, dad, brother and my dad. So that will also cut down our group picture time as well

Sounds like you know what you're doing! Honestly we found that the most time consuming thing was trying to get people organized on the day. Lack of communication/organization caused our photo time to be pushed back. Just try to do your best to come up with a schedule and make sure everyone who needs to be involved, knows about the schedule.
