How many hours is your ceremony and reception?

Hey so our ceremony starts at 1 reception to follow at the same location. Is 7 hours to long? Should I shorten the time?

Yes the DJ said the same for us. we actually both agree that maybe hiring the DJ for the four hours and creating a playlist for after. Were still in the planning stage.

Daughter's wedding was 6.5 hours, all at the one venue but in multiple locations. Ceremony began at 3:30, cocktail hour 4-5, reception 5-10. The time went pretty fast and I'd guess about 75% of the guests were there until the end. During planning we talked about an after-party, but daughter nixed it because she knew she'd be beat by 10. Her day began by 6 am, and we were at the HMUA's studio at 7 am. The entire day/evening was full, and so much fun, but by 10 she was more than ready for she and SIL to head off to their hotel.

Thank you, I wanted to make sure our day wasn't too long. I'm satisfied with our timeline.

So are we and I think I am just going to pay for the extra hour. I believe we are only going to do 6 hours total.

I've been to weddings where I have stayed 9 hours and the wedding went on for 12! No such thing as too long a wedding in my opinion

My ceremony starts at 5:30pm and reception ends at midnight so I think you’re good. That’s a normal time

I think that’s fine. Our whole event will be 6 hours but that doesn’t include the set up or cleanup. I think you are just fine for your times

Our ceremony will be from 4:00-4:30 (so 30 mintues) then an hour cocktail hour (4:30-5:30). Dinner will be until 7 then our DJ will play music till 11. So 4 hours of dancing with a total of about 6.5 hours in total.

I love partying and I don't think your hours are super long. You know your guests best. If they would like to spend a long time dancing then you should have a longer dance period!

Seven hours is a long time for an event. But depending on what you have planned for your guests, food and entertainment-wise, it could work. We had our wedding ceremony start at 4:30 PM, and everything wrapped up by 9:30 PM

Our ceremony starts at 6 (it’s non religious and will be quick) our cocktail hour will be about an hour and reception 4 hours. So in total I say our event will be about 5 1/2-6 hours

We did 5 because it's just what we could afford. I think it will be just fine and it all depends on the wedding couple and family itself.
