How many hours should you plan for wedding day pictures?

Tiffany, on June 28, 2023 at 2:46 PM Posted in Planning 1 3

Hello All,

I'm helping my daughter with her wedding and working on a wedding day itinerary and I'm struggling with how many hours to plan for pictures.

The Bride & Groom are doing a first -look so they should have plenty of time to get all their pictures done. If the wedding ceremony is at 5:30, when should pictures be taken? How many hours should we plan for?

Thank you!!!

Definitely talk to your photographer! This will depend on your location, how many group shots you want, what details shots you’re getting, whether they’ll be doing getting ready pics of the groom, etc. But your photographer is definitely your best resource because they’ll give you a recommended timeline and then make adjustments based on what you need.

We're planning 2.5 hours. It's probably more than we need, but we'd rather have extra time than not enough.

We had 2.5 hours and we felt like it wasn't enough time and we did not get all the shots we wanted. But we both have divorced parents so our family pics took longer than normal.
