How many items to put on bridal shower registry

Sam, on April 9, 2021 at 7:39 PM Posted in Registry 0 9
Hi everyone!

Is there a rule of thumb of how many items should be put on a registry? I will be having roughly 30-40 people at my shower, with two different stores I’m registered at. So far we have about 90 items chosen at each store with a price range for everyone’s budget. Does 90 items per store seem like too much? I don’t want my guest to think I’m being greedy(which is furthest from the truth) I always felt the more items the better to chose from. I’ve been to several showers where the registered stores hardly have anything on them and or a majority of the items were already purchased it makes it overwhelming for the purchaser trying to find something the couple actually wants. Again, I just don’t want to come off greedy with so many items!
Thanks in advance!

I think I've heard something like 2 per guest? Not that everyone is going to buy you two gifts, but more so that ratio provides everyone enough choices. So you are probably good!

Bed Bath and Beyond has a wedding registry checklist to get you started. There is no magic number of items, but rather have a wide range of prices. Lots of kitchen/bath items (utensils, etc) are lower price from $1-5 each and guests on lower budgets can bundle those. On the flip side, other guests will drop $200-2000 easily without batting an eye on other items such as furniture, appliances, vacuums, safes, electronics, etc. Also don't forget to register for fun stuff. Are you eyeing a frozen drink machine because you entertain in the summer? Or do you both have shared hobbies such as camping, grilling, etc?

    Hi Michelle!

Thank you for the response! Yes! I’m registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Target. I didn’t think we needed much until we started looking😭 bed Bath and Beyond has a AWESOME registry site! They have a whole section of best selling/ pitched registry items I had a field day with! I made sure to have a wide variety of price ranges. I know everyone doesn’t have the same budget so we made sure to be super considerate of that.

Assuming that this will also be the same registry for your wedding, I think this amount is absolutely fine! Better to have more options than necessary than to run out of items for guests to buy. Depending on how much gets bought for your shower, you can also add more to the registry between the shower and the wedding

I agree with Hanna! I also think most places give you a pretty good discount if you purchase items after the event that weren’t purchased by guests! As a guest, I like having options for gifts; some of the smaller registries go too fast!

People buy wedding gifts as well as shower gifts from the same registry, so that is not too many. Should cover price ranges.

Usually 2-3 items per person would suffice. Some will get one large item some will do multiple smaller.

Honestly a good rule nowadays is anything you’d want put on there. It gives people plenty of choice and depending on where your register, you get discounts on un bought items. So if you want it, put it on there.
