We are going back to mom's house after the rehearsal at the church and basically have a BBQ and beer night. It will just be a lot more fun to be in an atmosphere I know and all the family will be there we need and it is keeping the cost down for dinned. Our reception venue said they have a reserved room for us for rehearsal dinner but it would cost twice as much for everyone to eat there then it would to have a get together at my moms house.

We paid for both the rehearsal dinner and the reception luncheon. We didn't actually have a rehearsal, but we ordered a bunch of pizzas the night before the wedding, and fed everyone who had arrived by then. Since everyone was staying the same place, it gave us a chance to hang out informally with our guests.

The reception luncheon was at a restaurant, so the only rental charge was a 2% premium added to the cost of whatever food we ordered, for use of the private dining room.
