How many of you are putting your pictures on your invitations?

NotAllWhoWanderAreLost, on December 18, 2014 at 4:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 31

FH just texted me and asked if we could put our engagement pictures on our invites. I guess the photographer sent something over that he really liked. (I haven't seen it yet).

I honestly haven't seen many wedding invites with engagement pictures on them, but think it could be kinda cool. We did not do any pictures for our STDs and only just took our engagement pictures on Sunday.

So I am sitting here bored at work, obsessing about my invitations (and still not being able to decide what I want), and was wondering how many people do it?

So did you put a picture of yourselves on the invites?

I thought about it, found some invites that FH and I really liked but because of the way the photo would layout on the invite and the fact that we didn't like any that would fit we didn't. But I think it's a cute, personal touch

We did not...I'm not sure that I have ever seen it. I just kind of wanted to stick to a really simple look for the invites. I guess I would have to see the invitation but it wouldn't offend me or anything if someone did send me one with a picture lol. Could be a cute idea since you didn't get to for your save the date!

I wanted to but FH thought people would have already had enough of our e-pics and probably won't want to see anymore of them by that time lol

We are doing a tri-folded. So the front has an announcement of the upcoming wedding and the inside has our pictures on one page and the invitation on the adjacent page. The back is being used for all the information that would go on the inserts. Ended up being cheaper too.

@Wander....check out papersnaps.com. Their all in one invites are the ones that I was looking at. They're priced good and the samples that I ordered look great!

@Nicole, I really love the idea of the tri-fold. How did you do your RSVPs with that? Did you just have a separate card? Did the tri-fold have a pocket for it? Did you do online RSVPs?

@Maltese - Thank you for the suggestion! I do like the look of the All in one invites, but I am worried that the postcard RSVP's will get lost in the mail. Our current plan is that we are going to have a family friend DIY the invites for us. She does crazy things with paper, so I think we are going to create a template, and then she is going to print them and put them into some sort of nice binding or pocket type thing. We have a meeting with her when we go to my family's over Christmas to talk about it, which is why I have all these invitation questions! lol.

We are not doing it. But I did see some really nice invites with pictures. We are using pics on our STD's though I figured that was enough lol

I think a photo invite works better for more casual weddings.

I think photos are more save the date and thank you cards not so much wedding invites...but I have seen some neat wedding invites that had pictures of the couple as little kids or accents with a photo.

    Here is a good example:

I am not sure that I am a huge fan of those accents Northern MN, but you make a good point, I will have to think about that!

I am not planning on putting a picture on the invites since the design I want doesn't allow it. But if you want it, I say go for it!

We did pocket invites. We included a photo collage of three pictures with our wedding date and website, just so people could put it on their fridge or whatever and have the important info right there, but it was an additional insert, not the actual invite.

@NotAllWhoWanderAreLost We are actually doing online rsvps but ive seen a trifold that one of the folds could be torn out and sent back as the rsvp. I thought that was pretty cool

I found a design that I really like that includes a photo on the front. Haven't showed it to FH yet, but I am considering it. Our STDs don't have a photo and I thought it would be a nice touch.
