How many of you bought disposable cameras for reception tables?

T., on October 2, 2013 at 11:47 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 33

I'm toying with the idea.

I figure it'll give the guests something to do, and I may just get some nice extra pics out of it.

If you did, how much did you spend? I'm estimating 17 tables to buy for at this point.

One wedding did them and just had 1 camera for each table. However, I think the instragram hashtag would be best to use because lets face it. A camera phone's quality is better than a disposable one.

Hey Tatiana! The quality of those cameras aren't that great. Have you considered using an app like Wedpics? Your guests can take pics on their phone or digital camera and upload them all to one spot.

    I passed on this idea...

I did, however, setup a WedPics account - people can get the app (or go to the website on their computer) and upload photos.

We are only doing cameras for the 7 kids that will be at our wedding. I have heard horror stories from friends who did cameras on every table. One friend had her mom take the cameras to be developed and mom saw some things and body parts that she could have gone without seeing.

^ what they said, my sister did disposable for her wedding 5 years ago and she said most were just black pictures since it was an indoor evening wedding. I used weddingpartyapp.com and got some fun pictures from it!

I saw a few people on FB post the pictures their guests took on the disposable cameras provided and they were pretty bad. Really dark, pictures of random things like a plate, a cup, their slice of half eaten cake. I would save my money.

I set up a Wedpics account and ordered business cards so people can upload their digital pictures. I thought they'd be better quality than disposable cameras and cheaper.

I haven't heard rave reviews about using disposable cameras.

On the one hand, it's a fun thing for guests to play with during the reception. It's entertainment. But it's not meant to get great photos. The photos you get back are really random and few are keepers. If the entertainment factor is worth the $300+, then go for it. Otherwise I would say no. Use the apps that other people have recommended.

At my brother's wedding ten years ago, some of his guy friends took the disposable cameras and took pictures of their nether regions. The Bride's religious mother got them developed and she was horrified. The quality of the pics are grainy. I think an app like instagram or WedPics is the way to go.

I'm going to try to encourage people to use the Wedding Party app. They can take pics on their phones and upload them to our account

No way. Thats pretty old school. I may do the hastag thing but i am alao going to make a photobucket site and give all guests a business card with the log in info so they can upload any photos they take with regular camera to that site.

They're fun, and FH brought up the idea, but I just feel like everyone has a smartphone or digital camera now, so there's no point. Besides, with my luck all the pictures would be of stupid things like "this is a fork" :p

I haven't seen one in years, honestly. Everyone has a camera phone and they can just upload them. The disposable don't take good photos and they cost way too much for what you'll get back.

Ok, well about this wedding party app thing...

I just downloaded it, haven't even opened it up as yet but I've been reading the reviews and everyone seems to love it.

The question now is: How do I create some sort of PSA, asking people not to post pictures on FB and, instead, use this thing?

ETA: Thank you for all of the polite no's. LOL

I wouldn't do the app.. I would do "instagram" because I mean everyone has an instagram account and it's easier too. Just create you a hashtag girly..
