I went around my job and asked if people who attend wedding receptions “pay” for their plate/ or give a monetary gift at the wedding reception & the majority of the people say NO!!! A lot of them being plus 1’s and still don’t give any type of monetary gift at the reception. Is this weird???...

I usually give money unless they have an actual registry i can buy off of. but a lot of weddings i been to didn't have a registry so i'd just give money.

If i'm the "plus one" it wouldn't even cross my mind to give a gift. Otherwise I give a gift based on how close I am to the couple and what I want to spend. Sometime it's $40, sometimes it's $200 - just depends on the event or person.

Hmmm I kind of get how you feel honestly. I wasn’t expecting people to give me $200 a head, but I did find it strange that a small number of people showed up with all their kids and gave a very small gift when I know the husband has a very high-paying job. If it was someone who was a poor college student ect. then of course it makes sense to bring something smaller. But it makes me feel weird when people bring a family of five and give a $20 when the husband has a six figure income in a small town.
