How Many People Rsvp'd on Time?

Jessica, on March 30, 2021 at 7:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hello lovelies,
How many of your guests RSVP'd on time? For background, I sent out STDs last October for our June 26th wedding and sent out formal invitations on March 1st, with a response date of April 2nd. So far, only 11 of our 70 of our invitees have responded. Is this on-par with what you've experienced, or did more people respond to your requests on time?

I’m still currently getting my RSVPs in.
We sent out invitations Like two weeks ago or a week and a half ago?
We did paper invitations with virtual only RSVPs on our wedding website. So far we have already gotten in 62 RSVPs in total and they are all yes’s. We have roughly 90 guests we sent to.
my RSVP count isn’t the norm by any means! so you shouldn’t go off of mine. I’m actually super shocked at how quickly they’re coming in. So seriously don’t worry! They will come in!
I think some of the reasons why we’ve gotten so many RSVPs back so quickly is because of the following factors:
    1. On our invitations we put ‘any RSVPs not received by May 1 will be assumed as regrets.’(we are definitely not chasing people down and I think putting that in our rsvps kinda got the message across, and also I think people just know us well enough to know that we definitely won’t be chasing them down LOL)
    2. Our wedding is on a Thursday and all of our guests were well aware of this and I’m assuming they all either requested the day off from work already ahead of time and planned to have that Thursday to attend my wedding.
    3. I really think having our RSVPs virtual on our wedding website really helped because we used minted.com and it is super super easy to use. Sometimes people get lazy when they have to send things back in the mail, myself included. But they will get to it don’t worry.
    4. Everyone on our guest list with the exception of a few of my FHs family members and a few others are all people that we see and talk to on a weekly basis. We are very close with almost everyone on our guest list.

Are you having a destination wedding? You sent your invitations very early and expect your RSVPs early as well. If your wedding isn't until June 26th, RSVPs shouldn't be expected until May 26th.

So the majority of our guests are coming from out of town. We are footing the bill for hotels and flights for many of them, hence the early RSVP requests. We don't want to run into last-minute price hikes.

Wow! That is incredibly generous of you! There are many threads on here ranting about having to chase down RSVPs. It's unfortunate, but not uncommon. I think between 10-15% do not RSVP on time (or at all). If most of your guests have to travel, they may still be waiting on leave time approval for work, etc.

When it comes to people RSVPing people really seem to drop the ball. A lot of the time you’ll find that people think they’ve already RSVP-ed but haven’t. It is not uncommon to have to chase people for RSVPs so I would advise that first thing on April 3rd you start chasing up all 59 of the remaining people.

We had probably 85% of our guests RSVP on time, however, your RSVP deadline is earlier than invitations typically even go out. People don’t know 3 months in advance, in a pandemic, if they can make it to an event. I would adjust your deadline to a week or two before your vendors need a final headcount.

I think you're having this problem because you're RSVP date is WAY too early. You should be sending your invites about now at the earliest (6-8 weeks is best) and the RSVP date should be a week prior to the wedding date (2 weeks max). At this point I would wait at least another month before you start reaching out to people to get their RSVPs.

Our wedding is 4.24.2021 with an RSVP deadline of 4.5.2021. Our venue needs a final count by 4.12.2021 and we knew we'd need to chase down responses. Our RSVP option is online only, but all guest are tech-savvy enough for that not to be an issue. We sent invites to 88 people and we currently have 30 accepted, 6 declined, and 52 who still need to respond. Sadly, most of our wedding party is in the "not yet responded" group... I'll be sending out a reminder text to my side of the wedding party today and FH will probably send one out to his side as well. After the 6th we'll be reaching out to everyone who has not yet responded to let them know that if we haven't heard from them by the 11th they will not be factored in to our final head count.
