How many photographers did you meet with before booking?

Hi, ladies!

My FH and I are hoping to nail down a photographer this summer and get our E-pics done in the fall.

I did some research online, and found a photographer I looooove for $3,400, which is in our budget. I was hoping to stay under 3.5K. This includes 10 hours of coverage, e-pics, 2nd shooter and photos after the wedding (no album or hard copies). I am meeting with him tomorrow in person to get a feel for each other, ask/answer questions, etc.

How many photographers did you meet with or communicate with before booking? I am afraid to book "too early" and would love some advice. Thanks!

I knew before I got engaged who my photographer would be. She was the very first vendor I talked to

I researched a bunch online and went to a bridal bizarre. I looked at pricing for about 7. From there I met with the one that had the pictures I liked the most. We talked pricing and what I was trying to achieve with my pics and were able to make a deal. I couldn't be happier about having him be my photographer.

Not an issue....find THE one who you love their work, are a personality and stylistic match. Sometimes it's the first, other times it's several in.

I researched about five photographers and we met with three. We decided on the third photographer because of his style, price, and experience.

Researched and communicated with a million but only met with one, told her my budget and she was able to give me an amazing deal. I don't think it's too early to book a photographer as long as you have the venue booked.

I actually met with two, but planned to meet with 4. One made things really complicated and I told them no thanks because I didn't think it boded well. The other one I cancelled because they were an out of town photographer that I had to meet in the middle and I had already found someone local that I liked in between talking and our scheduled meeting.

I will say that you can't guarantee that the one you like best online is who you will like best in person. My favorite photographer online, while very nice in person, just seemed awfully inexperienced, and couldn't provide great answers to some of our questions despite that she was charging a pretty high rate. She also showed up unprepared with no albums, and did not send me the link to the full wedding she promised to show me promptly at all. By the time she sent it I was no longer interested.

I had thought the photographer I picked was good, but a little generic but we really clicked in person, I was impressed by how professional he was, and he showed me TONS of his work that showed me he could really photograph in a variety of styles.
