How Many Pictures are Enough?

Chrissy4985, on March 17, 2016 at 4:14 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Hi guys,

I am going over the photography packages that the resort provides. I am not sure how many pictures would be enough. I don't want to get a whole bunch or regret not getting enough. This is what they provide, what do you guys think?

30 images on a disc: US$400.00

45 images on a disc: US$500.00

60 images on a disc: US$600.00

75 images on a disc: US$700.00

100 images on a disc: US$800.00

150 images on a disc: US$1000.00

200 - 250 images on a disc: US$1200.00

300 - 400 images on a disc: US$1700.00

I got approx 650 photographs from my photographer. Now there are a lot of dups because it's the same picture but a different angle or further out or closer, but that helped with getting the best shots.

Is this just you an FH eloping? Or are you having a DW and want bridal party pictures? I would go with the 300-450 myself if you're having a full blown thing.

Do the photo #s indicate hours of coverage, or extra photographers? Are the images edited? You should get a sense of that. Most photographers produce 50-100 images/hour but don't turn them all over, just the good ones they've then edited.

Most photographers can take between 30(film)-200(digital) I know when I did weddings/ shoots on the side I'd take 200 photos an hour

@Carlyle, it is a destination wedding. I was thinking about the 300-400 images. @Emilyg these images are edited and I'm not sure on the number of photographers but it does include the whole day. Thanks @Beatrice

If it's full day coverage and you are getting edited photographs, I'd go with the 300-400 option. If that's not in your budget, then 200-250. I probably wouldn't want any less than that though.

We have over 750 pictures. You will want as many as they will give you, trust me!

I'm getting at least 400 edited images with rights. It'll likely be more as I'm having 2 photographers for 10-11 hours. I'm worried it still won't be enough.

What does one do with 500+ photos of one event?

My photographer said once she goes through and takes out the bad ones and edits all the pictures we get about 1,000. She will be with us the entire day, no time limit. We had an engagement shoot included in our package as well and it ran us about 3,000.

It's weird that they go by number of pictures instead of hours of coverage. If they take 50 good pictures but you only paid for 30 they wouldn't give them to you? Or are those just edited images?

That is very odd for how they price it. For me I would go as high as I could afford. You never know the pictures they might get or miss.

I've never seen a photographer price is this way - is there any way to ask them if they can just price it by hour of coverage?

I can check @Niki N, I will do a site visit in June so I'm gonna ask all of that when I go to the resort in person. These are good questions guys, thanks
