How many signs is too many?

Rennyrenrennerson, on October 15, 2016 at 10:21 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 41

I think I've gone overboard. What signs do you plan to have?

My signs include:

Welcome (wedding and reception)

Guest book

Memorial

Send off

Wishing tree

Candy bar

Hashtag

Photobooth favors

Bar (still undecided on this one)

Bathroom baskets

Seating

So far.......I need to get off Pinterest!

Mine was minimal, we had a framed sign by our guest book, and a hashtag sign that we placed near the entry way and one near the bar.

I truthfully think that was it. Things like the bathroom baskets, dessert and cake table, etc. seemed obvious to me so I left them be.

I also had a seating chart (obviously) but that's necessary and not optional lol

Less is more. That's too many IMO. 3 or 4 total should do it.

lmao they can be addicting. That doesn't seem like too much to me though if you have the time and resources to make them. They aren't necessary of course, but they can be a nice touch. I think we're doing the "pick a seat not a side" for the ceremony, a welcome sign that we'll move from the ceremony to the reception area, probably a dessert bar sign, memory table sign, a hashtag sign, and of course the seating chart. We'll need a sign at the end of the property so people know where to turn for the wedding too because the GPS only tells you where to turn, not where the entrance is since it's a state park

People really have sign fatigue at this point. With so many signs, you run the risk that the ones that have important info will go unread. I think signs are fine as long as they impart information that adults can't just figure out themselves. I can tell that's a photo booth and a candy bar so I don't need a sign to tell me so. "Please sign the guest book" is fine because it is something you do want people to do, and they don't always and they may not realize it is there. "Please leave us advice or a blessing on the wishes tree", again that's fine because people might not know what to do and you want them to do that. But directives should be kept to a minimum. Adults know to come into the ceremony space and sit down. They do not need to be told to do that. Anything adults know how to do does not need a sign. The labeling of everything starts to look like a kindergarten classroom.

Not a fan of welcome signs unless there is absolutely no way you can have a host or a family member greeting people and welcoming. Signs are not a substitute for the human touch at those times.

Youve already made these right? I think thats alot, but if youve already put in the effort, id use them anyway. I just cant see having to make any more. I know I dont go around and read every sign at a wedding, so I tried to keep them minimal at my wedding. also, pics please! Im literally dying with anticipation not seeing them! haha

We have a sign in lieu of a program with the order of events for the reception. We have a thank you sign. And we have a small sign for "in memory of".

@ashley, I took ideas off Pinterest and made a word document then printed on shimmery card stock. Then cut to the frame. I'm not a painter and suck at free hand so I felt this was the best way to make them look nice. Lol
