How many Vendors?

Mrs. Spring, on October 14, 2020 at 4:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 46
According to statistics, the average couple hires 15 vendors for their wedding day! I plan to hire zero and do everything DIY.

How many vendors did you hire or plan to hire?

Wow, 15?! That’s a lot of moving parts! We are hiring about half that- 8 vendors

It’s a destination wedding, so I’m kinda at the mercy of others for everything LOL I tried to keep it as simple as possible though, so just the basics-venue, officiant, musicians, makeup artist, chef, photographer, videographer, cake baker, flowers and entertainment. Oops, I guess I missed a couple- we actually have 10 vendors.

The French Quarter is one of my favorite places in the U.S. It has a constant party vibe, and there’s so many unique things to see, do and eat. We thought it would be the perfect place to share with our guests (as most of them have never been there).

Not even a photographer or an officiant?! We had:
    - church (including officiant and organist)
    - reception venue, which covered food, drink, basic decor, day of coordinator, all the things like chairs/tables/cutlery/crockery/linens etc etc- photographer- cake baker- graphic designer - a roller derby teammate who designed our invitations for us at a cost of $50!- hair and makeup
We DIYed most of the decor and borrowed a sound system from a friend and used playlists instead of a DJ. My BIL was our MC and he did a great job!

We’re going to have a lot, although I’m trying to cut it down especially with the pandemic & contracts (just easier to manage all the payments, legalese, & potential postponements!):

We have:- Church (with an officiant, ceremony coordinator, & 1-3 musicians)- Reception venue (comes with tables & chairs)- Photographer- Caterer- Bar service w/ bartenders
Next up on our list:- Videographer- DJ- Transportation
Maybes (not booked & I may end up skipping/DIYing):- Florist- Hair- Makeup- Baker (may opt for cutting cake & dessert bar from caterer)- Photo Booth (hoping can come with DJ)- Other rentals (really hoping to avoid this but you never know)- Day of coordinator
Now that I’m making this list I’m thinking of all the other vendors I’m working with, although they (hopefully!) won’t come into play day of: Jeweler, STD/Invite/Program Designer (a friend), Printer, Dress Shop, Menswear Shop, Seamstress, even the USPS if you think about it! So much goes into this one day!

Thats right, ma'am. The state we're marrying in does not require an officiant. We had engagement pics which I paid $235 for. Out of 185 shots, I only liked 3 of them! Mind you this was one of the top 10 photographers in my city. The issue wasn't him, it was that I just didn't like the way I looked. I dont want to spend $500 to $3,000 on wedding photos when I'll probably only like 2 pictures.

I believe that we will have about 5 vendors. But that is also because my venue is all inclusive and will do both the decorating, catering, and bartending.

I believe once things are said and done we will have 7. Ceremony/Reception/DOC is all in one, Caterer, Baker, Photographer, HAMU is one person, DJ, and Florist. I think that is it! For now at least!

We definitely could have cut back on some with a more inclusive venue, but we're okay with it because we love the reception space. Definitely can get stressful though, when reading the contracts & negotiating language.

I saw you're having no vendors & DIYing/eloping, and kudos to you! I'm sure it will turn out lovely.

Not bad at all especially since the florist is my fiancés grandmother (she owns a flower shop) so that just makes it even easier, then the day of the DOC handles it all!

We have a few that are actually hired, and then a couple that are friends helping out. We hired a photographer/videographer, officiant, string quartet, and venue. We ordered florals from an etsy seller but we will be setting them up ourselves as they are fake. If you want to consider Davids Bridal and the cake shop as vendors we have them too. My planner is a friend helping out and they are doing all the decor, food, and some coordination.

    - Church

    - Reception venue

    - Rentals

    - Photographer

    - Caterer

    - Bartender

    - Cake...does a grocery store count?

    - Hairstylist

    - Room block (2), but that was free

All of that comes to 10! Still on the fence about a DJ. I do feel like we are DIYing a lot, though.

    That’s insane!
We basically had an all-inclusive destination wedding; therefore, we had to hire photographer, videographer, officiant, and wedding planner.
