How many Vendors?

Mrs. Spring, on October 14, 2020 at 4:02 AM

According to statistics, the average couple hires 15 vendors for their wedding day! I plan to hire zero and do everything DIY. How many vendors did you hire or plan to hire?

We had a venue (which included all linens and such, wait staff, food, cake, bartenders, and event coordinator), DJ, photographer, hair and make up (at a salon), and a florist. The officiant was my husband's uncle, so we didn't pay anything for that, so I'm not sure if he would count or not.

Not sure if all of these count as vendors, but here is who we paid money to for our wedding: officiant (we got married at the courthouse, so license and officiant were an all-in-one deal); baker (cake delivered to the restaurant); florist (my bouquet, flowers for my hair, groom's boutonnière); and restaurant for the reception. So, that's 4.

Okay, that's too stressful for me but that is less than the average. Thanks for sharing.

That's pretty good! 4 seems to be the smallest number I've seen on this thread.

Well, I don't think it's a competition. Smiley winking I wanted a simple wedding so that's what I planned. I don't think any particular number of vendors is inherently good or bad.

I admit 15 as an average was a bit surprising to me, but that number could depend on how one defines vendor. Even if one is "DIYing everything", one could still count the craft store, grocery store, fabric store, jeweler, licensing office, etc. as vendors.

Of course it's not a competition. By the comment "that's not bad" I was referring to the more vendors = generally higher stress level. Please inquire for clarification before assuming the negative.

How can you hire zero vendors? Are you not having a photographer? Are you cooking your own food and using yours or your family members backyard for your ceremony & reception?

    We hired 7 vendors.

Lol, I'm sure many scratched their heads at my post. We are planning to elope. I didn't want to spend the money on photography. Did engagement pics and I hated them. Paid $235, and only liked 3 pics out of 185 shots. The photographer was great, I just didnt like the way I looked. Not a fan of my bone structure.

Gotcha. Yea, when you said 0 I was like "for a full wedding, no way" lol. We are our own worst critics, so I'm sure your engagement photos were beautiful!

15? That sounds like a lot lol but makes total sense. We have 7 planning for 9 (some things are included and family members doing some things)

    We will have:

Venue, Caterer, Photographer, Videographer, DJ, Hair and Makeup Artist, Florist, Baker, Dress shop, Dress alterations, Suit vendor, All of the paper goods (which will probably be from different places), Officiant, Rehearsal dinner space, Hotel, and then we might be having a late night snack, which would be a separate vendor.

    We have these vendors:
    -venue
    -photographer-DJ-florist -bakery and I still need hair/makeup.
We won’t be hiring anyone else. I don’t count the dress shop and things like that because they’re just places we’re making purchases. They aren’t vendors for the wedding day.

Ours is DIY in the sense that we aren't doing a one-stop-shop venue. But everyone to be hired is a professional. I just counted and we're at 14 with possibly more. But it hasn't been that difficult to coordinate.
