We emailed about 10 different venues and looked at on them online, then looked at five in person. When we fell in love with the one we booked we viewed it twice and booked it the second time.

Since our Wedding is abroad in Italy (we are U.S. Navy currently stationed overseas), we toured about 10, revisited our two top. Very thankful we did since they have VERY different set ups/traditions in Italy and too much was lost in translation and/or our American traditions weren't possible at most venues. We wouldn't have known this without touring/meeting the venue planners as pictures didn't accurately depict the venues and/or Plan B's were non existent/awful. Did comprehensive cost breakdown for Top two venues and decided if one was a certain amount less we'd go with that one OR pick our fav if pricing was similar. Smiley smile

Hi Kara! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement!

That's so great to hear! I am so glad you toured so many venues before you came to your decision, that was a great plan. Good process of elimination with these "top venues", too! Smiley heart Where in Italy will you be getting married?

We fell in love with the first one we visited! But there’s not a lot of options in our area.

Yes found my dresses 1st because see there are so many options out there and they are very overwhelming when coming to make a decision on what to get...The park we will like so far has been an option for quite a while I have been keeping to myself secretly I have so many pictures of this one specific area because it has exactly what Im looking for in a perfect wedding photo, actually I really wasnt thinking wedding when encountering this area I just wanted a picture of me in the setting..,.I thought no wedding at first because I took it my FH wasnt ready to marry and takes forever to ask something...yet he's very unpredictable like myself so he kept saying "...she's my wife" no one took him seriously, yet I heard him and kept thinking why he was saying that...well due to a small crazy work situation where we both work at same company helped me accept what he had been putting out he was ready just that he wasnt doing it very big and noticable like majority of FH do...So when finally accepted in Dec 2017...I had all of 2018 to preplan what I wanted to do and how to go about doing it...Now 2019 the clock has started and having room for unexpectants we agreed to go from a very big gathering of 300 to 200 to 175 to 150 all the way down to 30 which maybe cut in half since its a destination wedding...FH always said wanted a small ceremony and he took into consideration the pictures of the park area Ive been taking for the last 10 years...So Im looking forward to a time of just us.

I will seek an indoor venue inside one of the hotels in cause of inclement weather rain mainly to have a backup plan...Our plan is to have everything outside including reception then off to dinner at my favorite steakhouse...he doesnt care as long as he gets food he'll be happy as a lark

Hi, Congratulations...I understand that...In thepast I didnt go with the 1st of anything because thought it would not be okay...but so far planning our wedding it isnt bad...I picked my dresses out 1st...I went 2 wedding photos so I have 1 dress home already and the other is being made...I went to two different bridal boutiques ...I did research before I went once I senses a comfort level I went in and til this day 2019 I got first dress 2017 I still havent changed my mind...with that I went thru 1st impression with the venues...At 1st had intentions of having big ceremony & reception so I visited quite a few venues in my home state...only 1 made the cut and it was the 1st one I visited...and now for the destination wedding have been visiting this park we're going with for a LONG TIME so when we had a recent conversation to cut way down this park came to mind no questions asked...So in some cases the 1st option can be your true dream

    Have fun

Reviewed over 980+ at this point. Not exaggerating; I have a spreadsheet of more than nine hundred and eight separate venues. After a full week of obsessively reviewing and cutting it down, we're now down to seven possibilities. I'm planning on getting us down to a maximum of five to actually tour.
