How Many Wedding Favors?

Gabrielle, on June 24, 2021 at 11:54 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
How many wedding favors did you have? Did you purchase enough for every guest/household or just a general number of what you thought would be taken?
What did you use as favors?

We skipped favors. Most weddings I've been to have just skipped them. The last few weddings I've been to that had them had tons of leftovers. Unless it's something edible, like a cookie or something, most people leave them behind. Unless there's something you REALLY want to give to people, I would just skip them

Depends on what it is. We hired an artist to paint quick 5-7 minute watercolor portraits of guests. So people can sit individually or as a couple and get their portrait painted as their favor.

The only favours I think that are worthwhile are edibles or personalised things like what @Sexypoodle did.

My take is that no one wants a set of themed salt and pepper shakers, or a shot glass or photo frame with the couple's wedding date inscribed. If those favours are even taken, they end up being tossed out or left in the back of a cupboard to collect dust.

I am a hobby baker so I am contemplating making fondant embossed shortbread cookies for our guests as favours (trying to decide if I will stress myself out doing this since I will have a lot on my plate). If I decide to go ahead with it, we will have one cookie per guest (presented in individual sealed food-safe cellophane bags) that will be on each person's plate at the start of the reception.

Depending on what you are giving, definitely order enough for every person to take one and would do something edible or skip them all together

We had about 75 guests and bought 108 edible favors (9 dozen) and we ran out. I wish we had bought more!

I purchased enough for every single guest. No offense to anyone doing group wedding favors but I always hated the idea of house hold wedding favors. We are doing a candy buffet for everyone to get to fill up their own Mason jar of candy to take home.

I think you need to order favors for every guest. They won't all get taken, but it is far better than running out.

We opted not to do favors and have zero regrets about it. We did end up with a ton of flowers and leftover alcohol, so we did a little "drive by" around our town the day after, dropping off mini bouquets and some beer to local guests, which was greatly appreciated.

If I had thought of it in advance, I would have brought bottles/vases from home and let guests DIY their own bouquet to take with them when they left. We ordered bulk flowers and rented bud vases and did bud vase arrangements (we had 120 vases and 50 guests). I didn't have enough bottles/jars at home to do all of the table arrangements, but probably had enough that guests who liked flowers could have taken them to save us the trouble of driving around the day after, and so that guests who lived a bit farther away could also have been included.

We did fancy mints with customized "mint to be" tags, and we had one for each guest as well as about 25 extras. Most of them were taken but the few extras were not a problem because we quickly ate them the following week

I’m buying in bulk reusable straws. It isn’t the typical cookie or candle. My fiancé and I really love turtles and using that kind of like a theme.
