How much alcohol for Wedding

VeeM, on September 3, 2019 at 11:41 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3

Hello!

My wedding is right around the corner and we are buying the alcohol this week/weekend.

My question is how much alcohol should I buy? We have a guest count of about 220 people and 200 of them are of age to drink. We went with the open bar option at our venue meaning they will provide the sodas and ice as well as bartenders and we will provide the alcohol. Our venue also gave us 1 keg. Once the ceremony ends, we will have the bar open from 5PM-11:30PM

As of right now, we have the 1 keg and 12 bottles of tequila. I was thinking of buying cases of beer just so that there's more diversity in beer selection but I just don't know how much I should buy or how many options we should provide.

Any suggestions?

Should we also buy more hard liquor to once again give people options? How much juice/mixers should we get? With the tequila we were thinking of having a signature drink and then people could ask for whatever else they'd like mixed. Any suggestions on signature drinks? (I love tequila, he likes whiskey)

I'd rather have extra alcohol after the wedding than run out during the reception. Plus mine and my dad's birthdays are in 2 months if we have a lot leftover after buying.

TL;DR We currently have 1 keg, unlimited sodas and ice, and 12 bottles of tequila. We have a guest count of about 200 people. Bar will be open for 6.5 hours. How much/what types of beer/hard liquor/ juices or mixers should we get?

THANKS!

This is my biggest fear running out of booze. We have 122 guests. Maybe 15 that are light or no drinkers. We bought two 1.75 liters Crown Apple, four 1.75 of Captain Morgan, Skyy Vodka, and Jack Dabiels. I bought a case of my favorite wine, plus two boxes of boxed blush, red, and white wine. My FH is buying beer also. One keg and a few cases of two other beers. My caterer is providing coke, diet coke, ginger ale, and Sprite. I'm buying pineapple, oj, and cranberry juice. I'm not sure how much juice to buy. Wedding is Saturday

We're stocking our own bar, but once it's out it's out. We aren't having liquor at all and we don't plan on providing near enough to allow our guests to get drunk (also a Sunday wedding so most people will have work the next morning anyways). So just bottled beer and wine (5-6 drinks per bottle I believe). The articles I've read say you should accommodates 2 drinks per guest during cocktail hour and 1 drink per guest every hour after until the end of the reception. For us that would be roughly 500 drinks, but my dad talked us into only doing about 300 considering a lot of people probably won't drink given it's a Sunday evening and then that leaves too much alcohol left for the heavy drinkers to take advantage of. But that's just the method we're using, hope this helps!

We're planning for around 200 guests for a 4 hour reception. Our crowd is more heavily weighted in beer drinkers so this is what I figured out:

Beer: (18) 24 Packs of Bud Light, (18) 24 Pack of Coors, and (30) 12 pack of Michelob

Wine: 24 Bottles of house red, 24 bottles of house white

Liquor: Signature drinks: Jack and Coke/ Vodka Soda: 15 Bottles of Jack, 15 Bottles of Titos

All of this will cost around $2383!
