How Much Are You Spending On Your Wedding Programs?

Andrene, on November 10, 2010 at 5:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 51

Really like this program and have gotten a printing press to recreate the look for $600 for 100 programs. http://www.finestationery.com/product.cfm?prod_id=92922&cm_thisCategory=2&cat=2&cat_id=2&subcat_id=791

But, I'm wondering if I should go with a cheaper program as I don't think anyone outside of family will keep them after the ceremony. http://www.finestationery.com/product.cfm?prod_id=90514

FS has basically said I should do whatever I want but I am still agonizing over the decision. Would love to hear everyone's input.

Any chance you want to Do It Yourself. check out this link... scroll down to the program. it was square shaped and thought you might like it.

$600 seems a lot for 100 programs. Esp if you can DIY for under $60 (just a guess)

I'm not great at the DIY approach so that won't work for me. I want something that matches the invites but those would have been around $1000 from the stationmery store. So the alternative is to have the printing press create something that will compliment the invites. I really love the program with the grommets but I'm having second thoughts about spending that kind of money if no one will keep them after the wedding. Just want to get a sense from others on here to see if anyone else shelled out that kind of money for their programs and if it was worth the expense at the end of the day.

Wow $600 seems like alot to me for programs. i am not a diy type of person, but i made the programs myself. we just got the paper from michaels and printed them on the computer and tied a ribbon around them. they turned out really cute and were $75 for all of them

IMO if the look and feel of the programs is important to you, then get the ones that you like. However, you still have a great deal of time before the wedding so I would urge you to hold off on ordering them. That way if you find that some other aspect of the wedding is more important you can order less expensive programs. To answer your original question, I made my 180 programs (4 page; 4.25" x 5.5"; ribbon embellishment) for under $35. The programs, while important to have to help our guests feel comfortable at our ceremony (full Catholic mass), just weren't important enough to us to spend more than $50 on.

I am spending about $60.00 for 100 programs from www.weddingprogramsfast.com, no DIY needed.

My sister had programs exactly like that, but she designed them and put them together herself. Her bridal party helped out, they got it done in one night, and I'm sure they didn't cost $600.

Haven't done by own programs, but FH will hit the roof if I even mention $600, lol.

$600 for 100 programs seems really steep to me. I know tons of people who have used this as a DYI yourself project. We are having ours made at a local printing company for 47 cents a program.

That's $6 per program for something made of paper your guests are going to throw away. I know you aren't seriously thinking this is a good deal. You can get them printed at Kinko's for alot less if you refuse to DIY.

I think unless you are having an unusual program, or something really special- you don't need programs at all.

The invites were $1300 so at this point FH is saying just get what you like cuz it's your day and I am happy so long as you are. All the stationery so far has been way more than I ever thought I would spend on paper. Wouldn't mind spening the $600 but I think the programs are sort of like favors. They seem like a cool great idea and are very pretty but at the end of the day most people are probably going to just leave them behind and they'll get thrown out. So, do I go with what I like and try not to go postal when I see them in the trash at the end of the night or save myself the hassle and money and go with something a lot cheaper. So far its not looking like anyone else spent that kind of money on programs.

Paying around $10 (using 50% off coupon from Michaels) for programs and asuming ink even costs that much.

OK. Definitely going to skip the $600 programs. In the end it probably won't make a difference to anyone but me. Thanks everyone for talking some sense into me.

In regards to stationary the money will be spent more in invites than anything else. But I would hate to spend $600 on invites for 75 pp! (Let alone programs.) I would love to DIY these...

That is way too much for programs. If you notice all they really used were metal eyelets, ink, and paper! I can definitely make these for you at a much cheaper price.

OMG! Am I cheap? Hahaha. FH wants programs and I was like, "sweetie, what do we want programs for?" So he says he can just print them out, HE WANTS to have them so I told him to do them. So how much are we spending? 0! Hahaha

I've attended so many weddings and people throw them out just like they throw out invitations! I don't even remember what my friend's weddings invites look like. I would rather spend that money on our honeymoon. I guess I'm more practical.

I am not paying $600 for the entire paper budget for 50 invitations. I bought print yourself invitations from on the marked down bin at Michaels. They are manufactured by gartners studios, and are lovely, imho. The kit contains it all. My STD's were post cards. As far as programs go, I would like them so our guest will know the order of the ceremony and who is whom, but they will crowd the table so we are not doing them.

That $600 could go towards something else, but the bottom line is, it is our wedding and what do you want.

I think I spent about $200 on 200 programs, which I thought was pretty good (they were 6 pages front and back--the ceremony wasn't that long, I swear, it was just the design!). I did DIY them but I had the pages printed and then assembled them myself.

I like the layered look of these & you really don't need too much DIY skills:
