How much control did you give your DJ?

Well, the title kind of speaks for itself. Obviously we have to choose the important dance songs, cake cutting, etc. And I'm definitely making a do-not play list. How crazy are you going with the "must play list"? Are you giving your DJ a lot of control or basically making the playlist yourself? My BFF pretty much made her own playlist for the whole night and it worked out, but I think my DJ can handle some control over the situation.

I'm letting him have most of the control. My only request is absolutely NO Taylor Swift.

We hired our DJ because he had amazing reviews and is good at what he does. I will give him the basics, but after that all I request is he keeps the dance floor full and will let him do his job.

I think we'll be giving him most of the control... We'll definiteley let him know the feel we want for cocktail hour, vs. the beginning of the reception and then what we'd like later into the night. I'm a little nervous about this actually, because I really want the music to be family friendly.

Really I'm just telling him what genre's we prefer and don't prefer, and I have a section on the wedding website for song suggestions, so I'll give him that list. Other than that I'll let him go from there.
