We had our own savings prior to being engaged, but we started saving for the wedding as we were doing a budget. We planned what we would save per month and added in our tax returns and anything additional we got went in. We will have around $8000 by the time the wedding comes. And we will definitely be under that for the wedding.

Nothing just for the wedding.. But we been saving since we started dating & living together his whole paycheck & then with mine paying all the bills/mortgage, etc... & still have some left over to pay for the wedding... & if we need extra, which right now we havent we can go into the other saving & pull $$ from there. But our goal with that $$ is for our downpayment on the next house ...

Since hubby and I were already married and I was planning a 10th year Renewal of Vows, we saved a little over 10k. All deposits are paid and we have 5k left. However, I had another account opened a year ago and it has 7k in it. So, I'm not that stressed financially. I'm still paying monthly on things because I don't want to exhaust our savings.

We actually had nothing. When FH proposed he had a few thousand in his personal account, I had none (I'm horrible at saving money). Maybe 2 months after getting engaged his family gave us $10K and since the wedding is 2 years away, we plan to save $600 a month together for the rest of the wedding budget.

Had nothing saved when we got engaged. I have been doing a direct withdrawl from our paychecks every 2weeks so i wont feel it as much. A couple of dollars here and there....Little by little. Im not going into debt for a wedding. =)

We didn't have anything saved for the wedding. We did have some saved for house items that we wanted and when we started planning the wedding that money came over to the wedding budget. We work as much OT and extra jobs that we can. I am a Property Manager so instead of having one of my guys paint or do minor maint. FH and I do them on the weekend. Its not steady but about every 6 weeks one comes up and we usually get a cheap room in the city the unit/house is in and turn it into our time. On a normal month we save about $1200 after bills/household items are paid. We are half way there and should be fine, maybe even pay things early.

We had savings but we didn't use any saving to pay for the wedding. We just cut back on expensive dinners, vacations, etc and used all our disposable income every month towards wedding costs.

Nothing - we pay everything quarterly against FH's bonuses. So our "lifestyle" was modified by using the bonuses for the wedding instead of vacations, home remodeling and shopping splurges.

I sooooooooooooooo am ready for the wedding to be over as I have a list a mile long of things I'd rather use those bonus checks for. LOL

I'm going off $1000 haha Not too much. Sadly, my parents don't approve too much and so they aren't helping us out. But we're trying our best (:

ZERO!! Seriously. Our first purchase was our photographer that we were allowed to make payments on. After paying her we didn't buy a single thing for almost 7 months. We waited until we got our tax return and put every penny of that towards the wedding. As months get closer we simply use within our budget the amount that we need. So far our wedding is looking like it will cost 11k without saving a Penny we are right on track.
