How much did you spend on flowers?

FutureMrsIsa, on March 19, 2014 at 12:22 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 43

Now before you direct my attention to the search bar…

I met with my potential florist last night and she gave me a quote of 2,800.00$ For

1 Bridal bouquet with toss bouquet

4 bridesmaids bouquets

flower girl rose petals

7 corsages for moms & grandmas

5 boutonnieres for the men

Eucalyptus draping with flowers for arch

aisle lining petals

5 cluster flowers for lanterns

15 Mason jars of babies breath

6 flower box centerpieces

2 Large draping centerpeices

& Set up and delivery!

We're using peach roses, white hydrangeas, blush spray roses, dahlias etc.

So my question to you is, what are you getting and how much are you spending?

Edit: for spelling

I'm doing my own. I've got the mason jars, 100 bunches of baby's breath at Sams club is $99. And I'm doing silk flower bouquets for around $20 a piece. And potted plants for my outdoor venue. In all should be under $200.

I haven't spent anything yet but I don't want to spend more than $300.

I will not be ordering floral centerpieces.

I'm going to be spending around $400 but I'm buying wholesale and going to DIY. I'm actually buying what will be considered 6 large bouquets (various mix of flowers) and then getting another order of just simple white ranculous and another order of idk what type of flower but a different color lol I will then separate everything out and make the arrangements myself... luckily I only need my bouquet, 4 BM bouquets, and thats all I NEED... now I will most likely make bouts for FH and his 4 GM (FH doesn't care and kind of doesnt want them so we'll see) Then I will make 2 bouts for Dad and Grandma and 4 coursages for moms and Grandmas.

1 FG basket and flower halo

2 corsages (for my mom and FMIL)

5 boutonierres (3 GM, FFIL, FGFIL)

Our flowers are going to include roses, Gerbera daises, lysanthus, and other seasonal pink flowers. The center pieces will also have one pink lily in each and my bouquet (and FH's boutonierre) will also have stephanotis.

We are doing our own table centerpieces. But for $400 we got a floral designer that will handle:

    -Bridal and toss bouquets

    -3 BM Bouquets

    -4 boutineers

-2 ring bearer boutineers with magnets

    -3 corsages for moms

    -petals for flower girls

Not sure if we are doing ceremony flowers.

OP - I think that sounds like a good price. You are getting a lot. I'm spending $6,000 on florals. There will be flowers everywhere Smiley smile

I just want to say I think if you have the budget to spend over $1,500 on flowers go ahead... but in my opinion it is a waste. I would rather spend any extra money on the photos, venue, etc.

We spent a total of $12,000 on our wedding including my dress, table centerpieces, and extras.

I don't think anyone can really say what is a "waste" with respect to a wedding. A waste to one person may be a priority to someone else. I love flowers and to me they important. Part of what makes beautiful wedding photos is flowers and decor, in addition to people of course. I can't wait to see beautiful photos of my bouquets, centerpieces, tablescapes, alter florals etc, to remember the day. They are not a waste to me.

@Emily... I am saying if you don't have the budget to do it... then it is a waste. We are paying for our wedding without any help from parents or family. There are so many wedding expenses. Flowers die in a few days but the photos... video, etc will be priceless years from now. I think its great you are doing that and I am sure it will be beautiful. We just didn't want too many or to spend more than $500 on it. Plus, our theme is vineyard related and we will have wine inspired everything.

We are doing my bouquet, 3 BM's and 5 bouts for a total of $249.00. I am pretty laid back and showed my florist what I liked and what I didn't like and told her to use her own creativity from there and to also use what was in season to save money. I love flowers but they die within a few days. We will use potted plants/flowers from Home Depot or Lowes as centerpieces and then take them and plant them afterwards.

@MeandMr.B good idea! I am thinking of getting 2 bouquets from Trader Joes and putting it on the reception table where the welcome signs are. Smiley smile

@Emily I'm with you! Flowers came in at about 9% of my entire budget! Biggest expense after the venue. But I just love flowers.

OP, sounds like you got a great deal!
