When I was married, I did my own flowers. I was not a full-time florist at the time, and I ordered from the same places many DIY Brides do that claim to be wholesale. Now, as an accredited business with a TAX ID number I get real wholesale flowers, which the average person cannot do. (FiftyFlowers, Sams Club, etc are NOT wholesale.) When a florist orders flowers we get them just a few days after being cut. So, when you order from "wholesale" (I am still unsure why they are able to claim they are wholesale when they are not) you have a very limited choice on stems. (example: I have a Bride that wants Blue flowers. (I have 62 pages of blue-toned flowers to choose from) They are fresher, larger and better - they just are.

When a florist does your flowers they will stay alive, there is no stress for you the day before or the day of. Even though I am very good with flowers, I wouldn't do my own again, it is a MASSIVE undertaking to do something really nice. If what you want is a small vase with a few flowers and a candle... well, anyone can do that.

If you want a really classy event, that makes your guests feel like you put together a really nice event... hire a professional.

You live in an expensive area of the country, and that is a good price. It is a massive amount of work.

edited to add: Your florist does beautiful work, it is something you will not regret. (I saw them listed on your vendor team)

I did succulents on the tables and did my own bouquet + 2 for MOH and to toss, + 2 vases for a small altar.

I got the flowers from Trader Joes and was super happy with the result. Paid about $50 for the flowers.
