How much did you spend on your decorations?

Cynthia, on April 27, 2016 at 10:22 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

As a DIY bride I am curious as to how much has been spent, and/or will be spent on the decorations of your venues?

ceremony?

reception?

What do you mean by "decorations"? Traditional items like flowers, linens, etc or other additional items you're using to personalize the space?

Since you're doing it yourself, you're bound to save a bunch. My suggestion is to opt for silk floral and inexpensive (multi use) vases in order to save more money.

Too much, but I'm a sucker for creating atmosphere.

This is going to vary hugely depending on what youre doing. We are not using real flowers, but it's not saving me money on my bouquets; I estimate my centerpieces will cost about $10 each. what do you consider decor? I consider everything on top of the table, including linens, lighting, signs, details....so my "decor" budget is different from someone whose linens are included in their venue or who has a separate line for flowers.

Less than $150 (not including flowers). Dollar Tree store was my bff.

@Kristy OMG your venue was amazing! I especially love the first picture... Is that where you had your ceremony? Did you ever post a BAM? I've only been on WW a couple months. Maybe I missed it. So beautiful!!

@Ashley Yes, I had my ceremony in the first photo spot ;D

Dinner was around the fountain. The ceremony area became the dance floor. I had a loooong walk to the aisle through the garden. It was fabulous!

I never did do a BAM. Thinking of doing a really late one!

About $1500. Decor is extremely important to me especially since my venue is a blank canvas. A decorator was going to charge me $4,000 for what i wanted so I guess i'm still saving.

Depends on your venue and your vision! My venue is so beautiful that I don't want to take away from it so I am not doing any crazy decorating thank god.

Ok thanks, I was just curious. This DIY wedding planning has all these little details (that are actually big) that I never considered.

If you mean w/ flowers then about 1200 and then without, 200.

My venue is a lot like Kristy's and is already pretty decorated so we really only bought candles, table signage stuff, and these cute madlibs (which were about 50 bucks).

$385 small backdrop for ceremony, 2 branches from yard painted with vases and lit, 6 centerpieces with ribbon, bouquets, paper lanterns, 8 tablecloths, yarnballs, 100 bullet lights for lanterns, cakestand, aisle runner. Dollartree and Hobby Lobby for most things.
