How much did you spend on your dress?

I'm shopping for dresses and am wondering what is a reasonable amount to spend on a dress. I know it depends on my budget but I'm not going to buy a dress based solely on cost --I won't pay up the ying yang either. The dress I like is significantly more expensive than what I was hoping to pay...

I'm shopping for dresses and am wondering what is a reasonable amount to spend on a dress. I know it depends on my budget but I'm not going to buy a dress based solely on cost --I won't pay up the ying yang either. The dress I like is significantly more expensive than what I was hoping to pay (~$2300). If you've gone over budget for your dress, how much did you pay (if you feel comfortable sharing)? Was it worth it?

I unrealistically started around $200 and ended up with $289 from a handmade fitted dress from Etsy.

Original pre-alterations budget was $2K. Got my Maggie at a trunk show for just under $1400 incl tax. With veil and the beading we're adding plus some alterations I think I'm going to come in right around my original $2K. So I managed to stay under budget and get a dress I seriously love!

My budget was around $1000. I spent $1200 on the dress.. additional $600 on veil and belt. Not proud of the extra $600 but it will totally be worth it lol

$1500. I made the mistake of trying on dresses over budget and fell in love with one for $3k. I decided it wasn't worth the extra money when there were so many beautiful dresses within my original budget. I ended up paying $650 and love my dress!

I spent 250.00 on my dream dress by Zac Posen !!

When I went to Davids Bridal It was originally 1400.00 but after the $99.00 dollar dress sale it went down to 700.00.... The sales associate mentioned that the dress i wanted was being discontinued so I waited 2 months and when i went online in November it came out to 249.99!!!! SO HAPPY

My budget was $500-$600ish, dress was originally $750 but I got it for $620. Then I had to pay $175 for alterations. Higher than I wanted to pay, but I really felt like what I paid was wonderful for my style of dress and I was in love with it.

ETA: My grandma bought my belt which was about $200

I set a budget of $1000 with alterations when I initially budgeted my wedding. From there I heard alterations are typically $200- $400 so I decided to look for a dress in the $600 range. I fell in love with a sample sale Maggie Sottero and paid $860 out the door without one ounce of regret (regularly $1800!!!!). Literally threw my card at the lady and said "This one is coming home with me". I anticipate alterations will put me 100-200 over my 1000 budget but I have no issues with that.

Mine was originally $2500. I paid $1500. I wanted to stay under $1500 so it worked out. But figuring alterations in, I'll be a little over budget. I'm okay with that though!

I only spent $99.99 on my dress. I got it from Amazon and it is perfect for me! I don’t even need any alterations and I cannot walk in it! I would love that dress still much better than the dresses that I saw in the bridal shops. My wedding is Saturday and I can’t wait to wear it!
