Hi girls! So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

I found mine for 1800 for a Sophia Tolli but I thought i would be buying one that was more expensive. But I more wanted to feel confident and comfortable in my wedding dress then feeling like it had to be high in price.

I did not want to spend more than $800 on my dress. I didn’t not look at any prices when trying on I just grabbed dresses. After I tried on the one I wanted to say yes to my dream dress, I looked at the price. It was $899 and they were having a 20% off sale so I got it for $720! After alterations it was $865. So I think I got pretty lucky not going over my budget!

Only you can decide if you want to purchase that dress? The only question i can think you would want to ask yourself is.. if you do buy the dress, are you willing to sacrifice in other areas of your wedding for it? have to talked with your fiance?

I had a budget of $500, spent $250. My fiance and I decided to focused most of our budget on the venue, food and entertainment.

I say go with what’s affordable for you or whoever will purchase it for you. I got my dress from Mori Lee from a boutique and it was like $1300 and my veil is $250.

I was shooting for $500-600 but wound up falling in love with a $850 dress. It was so worth it because I had no dress regret and felt gorgeous in it.

I spent $750 on my dress. That was with my alterations. I shopped online first so I had an idea of what I wanted before I went. I scheduled my appointment this last March for my fitting and the second dress I tried on was the perfect one! It was priced at $599.99, after taxes, a garment bag and alterations it was just under $750. Good luck, when you know it’s the perfect dress you will know. What I mean is that if you are having seconds thoughts of spending that much on a dress it might not be the perfect match for you. Good luck!!

It all depends on you and what you can afford to spend comfortably. Keep in mind the cost of alterations and accessories.

I paid under $600 for my wedding dress. I am budgeting another $500 on accessories and $300 for alterations. My all in will be just under $1400.00. I'm also considering a reception gown as well. I have well over a year for all these costs as well. My advice to you is simply to do what you feel is best for you! If you fall in love with an expensive dress (that you can afford) than get the expensive dress and buy cheaper shoes or a less flashy veil. It's your day and ultimately your decision.

I spent $299 on my dress, but I added a belt to it which cost $149. I thought that was ridiculous but the belt literally made the dress perfect.

When looking for my dress I had watched one to many say yes to the dresses lol so I went in saying I wanted to spend 2500 max but I could stretch 3 if I absolutely without a doubt could not want any other dress. The place I bought my kind of chuckled and said they didn’t have a dress anywhere near that expensive. So after my dress, veil, a beautiful pearled beaded belt, and my pedi coat I spent 1300 I haven’t gotten my dress yet so I don’t know how much alterations should be if any but it really personal opinion. If you love the dress and it is THE ONE. I say GO FOR IT! But if there’s even a shred of doubt. And remember that if you keep going back to the dress then it’s provably the one. And if you compare every other dress to that one. Then it’s it. Good luck!

It really is a personal choice. I found a dress I absolutely love and it was $5 at the thrift store. I couldn’t pass that up. I still plan on going to my bridal appointment and my budget is $200. I can’t justify anything more than that.

With my first marriage I spent closer to $600 on a dress that was ridiculously beautiful. If I could rewear that one I 100% would.

I didn't really have a budget. I wasn't looking for the cheapest thing either. This is going to sound weird but mine was $27 or so. I bought an evening gown on sale online. I know that is TOTALLY risky but there was something about it that I really liked online and I figured hey if it comes out really badly in person it was not worth much anyway so why not risk it. I really cannot tell you what it is that motivated me. There was something that clicked with me when I came across it. When it came in the mail and I tried it on... I LOVED IT. Sure I get dress envy but Everytime I do I go back to that dress (I try it on again) and I just really love it. I got lucky I guess. I did however go dress shopping and tried on other dresses anyway to have the experience and I still ended up liking the one I got more. I think I would have still just stuck to buying something off Lulu's.
I had planned to go off the beaten path anyway and look for a white dress I liked, not so much one specifically labeled as wedding gown. Prom and evening dresses can be found for so much cheaper anyway. But i would say if I had to really decide on a budget, I would have put my budget at $300. My friend had also given me an idea because she rented hers for $150 and it was actually a good idea because places can rent out designer gowns that cost thousands of dollars if you were to buy it and often times you'll really never do anything with your dress again so renting it was not a bad idea.

My total budget is also in the **** range!
I'm looking at some GORGEOUS Etsy dresses in the $150 price right now that aren't *technically* "wedding dresses" but, as they come in a variety of colors, they're still perfect for the job!
